I come on F-1 visa that ended in 2010 and married girl of my choice in early 2009 i been married for little more than one year. Now i want to apply for green card and need some advice as i cannot afford lawyer.

1. I read on USCIS site that "Employment Authorization Documents and Travel Documents are free for applicants who paid the fee for Form I-485 as long as their I-485 is pending." in this case how should i file. I think like year ago i read that its free if you pay for forms I-485 and I-130 at once. which one is most current info?

2.I am on budget and i need to do it as cheap and broken into parts as possible i cannot afford paying it all at once.

Can someone who knows how its done tell me what forms i can fill first e.g. can i just file I-485 first and then maybe couple weeks after when i save up some money i file another one and so on...

3. Do i need to pay $1000 for "Supplement A to Form I-485" as well or this one don't apply to me?

2)no you have to send the whole packet at the same time and 3 no, that is only for people filing under the 245i, meaning petitions file before April 30th, 2001.

File everything at once, filing separately does not make any sense. Gather $1490 and bite the bullet.

I will actually have $1500 in two weeks, but i run into problem my wife does not have enough income rquiroments (>$22,000 year) be my sponsor, and i don't know anybody in US, who can help me, and she does she does not have anybody who can sponsor.

1. As i understand she needs to file as sponsor anyway, but then i need to find "joint sponsor".

2. Is it legal to just pay/find someone to be my "joint sponsor" even if i dont even know him or he's in other state than me?

**** Moving from General Immigration to AOS from Student Visa forum ****

If it is just you and your wife, $22'000 is enough.

Yes, the co-sponsor can live somewhere else, doesn't need to be related to you. I can't imagine someone who doesn't know you well- and trust you completely- to sign such a hugely important document though, that could obligate them for the rest of their lives.

125% of poverty line for two people is $18,387.00. If she makes around $22k it's enough for two people and she can be the main sponsor for I-864.

And it might delay your case up to 6 months and not a lot of people on this forum suggest but if you're really tight on money you can file I-130 first and when you get NOA for I-130 you can file I-485 next. Also you need to get I-693, immigration exam, done with I-485.

And it doesn't matter if you file I-130 and I-485 together or seperate, as long as you file I-485, work permint and advance parole is free or charge.

If she doesn't make more than $18k and you need to find somebody, I think it's going to be pretty tough to get a complete stranger to be your sponsor. But as long as they are USC or permenant resident, it's ok.
