Hi all ~ New to this site...I am the petitioner (dual citizen married 10 years to a Canadian citizen (L)). We have received instructions to schedule our visa interview in Montreal...category is IR1-CAN. Our question...Is there a specific amount of time we are expected to complete the interview in? We have property/real estate listed for sale and would need to use the money from this sale, for our expenses. Can we schedule the interview for 9+ months out? Does our petition/interview have an expiration date?

Anybody have experience with the time-frame, if you don't want to schedule immediately? Thanks!

Interviews for IR-1/CR-1 visas are scheduled by NVC. You don't schedule it. But if you're not happy with the date, then you can change the date online.

Keep in mind though, you have up until 6 months (generally) after receiving the visa to move before the visa expires.
