Hi VJ members and admin,I am new to this website. I am happily married to my husband for two years now. We recieved my greencard August 2010;therefore, we have to get the condition removed on May 2012;(90 days before the two years anniversary). The problem is my passport is due for renewal, it will take us about 3 to 4 months; as we need to report our marriage before we can renew my passport. In order for us to do that we have to send the report of marriage for to Washington DC as we got married in Florida, which is chicago wont be able to do that for us. My questions are: Do I have to have an active passport,in order for me to remove the condition of my green card? second, how long does it take to renew the passport?(passport will expired 3 days before my we will send the application for removal. Thanks everyone in advance.

Having an expiring or already expired passport has no bearing on filing for ROC. Go ahead and file! The Philippine Embassy conducts consular outreach programs in different states. In fact If you are from Florida they will be there in Pensacola on February 25-26. Check their site...

thanks for the responses. I don't live in FL. we just got married there. in Indi at the moment.Which is Chicago is te state where I can renew my passport. The thing is,they required us to report marriage to Washington DC as we are married in FL. So, you mean I don't need to have an active passpot for removal of condition?
