Hello, All:

My husband finally picked up his visa today, but it states CR not IR. Was that done by accident?

We have been married for two years and twenty days. Should we not be eligible for the IR?

What should we do now?

Can he have that corrected once he enters the US. He will be here next Tuesday.

The POE officer will be the one that determines what the entry is classified as not the US embassy.

Can you please help me in finding out what he needs to do once he enters the US? Do we need to notify any governmental agency. I am unsure about this part.

Thank you.

You don't need to do anything, just wait for the green card and ssn in the mail after he enters the US.

I tried to send you a message on VJ but you cannot receive any more messages cause your inbox is full

He needs to show the officer at POE his marriage license and GENTLY tell him I have been married over 2 years, will I get the IR1 visa?

Then in 2 weeks when it comes in the mail make sure it is not a CR!-conditional resident visa

If it is hurry and go to a Info pass appointment and get the to change it. But if POe does it right then he will get the IR1

Good Luck

Did you write an embassy review?

Could you if you did not. I would like to know what they asked of him

thank you

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Thank you for your advice. They asked him many questions about my life, work- how far I lived from my work and boss' names, my primary transportation, my kids and their school, holidays and how I celebrated them, our faith and how we will raise our kids, what I do in my spare time, and how I got along with my family members. I have not written an embassy review yet, but I will.

Thanks! The best part is that we will meet my boys at their bus stop after school to surprise them. On the 16th, my boys' school is having an international food festival and my husband will help me make Tangine and couscous. I am more than excited after our long drawn out wait for him to come home. My poor husband has the flu after taking the flu shot. I cannot wait until he is here.

AT THE POE, in the immigration line, [this is between getting off the plane and seeing you, btw]

have yer husband mention that the STAMP says CR-1, but the marriage has been over two years,

and

ask for a CORRECTION on the computer.

Be prepared to wait for the correction - sometimes the CBP fella not know how to process a person on an immigrant visa.

--

This last bit is important. Be prepared to stay in secondary inspection UNTIL the correction is made. Even if it's a few hours - as having a 10 year card arrive in the mail, as the first card, beats the dog poo out of getting a 2 year card.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

So, how did it go at the POE ?

Any correction made, or no ??

POE can be troublesome for anyone in the line, as they're coming off an international flight, tired, bleary eyed, not thinking so clearly.

How was it?
