Advice on DHL pickup

Timeline

Hi everyone,

i have my immigrant visa interview in ciudad juarez on March 6th, my question is, if my visa is approved, should i wait and recieve my visa in juarez or should i go back to my home state and wait for it there. I am asking this question because i have been told they take your passport, therefore i would have not ID to ravel with. Please let me what i should do

It really depends what you want. It took 6 days for my visa to get to my state. I was in Juarez with my husband (fiance back then) last October, and I wouldn't recommend you to stay and wait there. Its not because of the safety issue, because everything around the us embassy is really safe, is more about there is nothing to do, except going to the mall across the street, and I think you will be very bored spending 6 days or so, + the days for the interview, the medical and all that. After my interview, I went back to my home state and got the visa in 6 days, I had time to finish my luggage and spent some last days with my family before I came to the US with my husband, in my opinion, I think that was the best. I know it seems it will be cheaper to stay in Juarez and cross the border once you got your visa, but if you add all the hotel days, you will probably end up spending the same money. Then again, it really depend on what you want.
