Out of interest how did you answer the question about how much money you were bringing. I hope to have a years salary saved up by the time I move, but I won't transfer it all across to the US imediatley. You think just tell them $5,000 something like that??

We just wanted to share our experience at the London Embassy this morning. Best of luck to you ALL! Hang in there, your day will come!! :)

OUR INTERVIEW WAS TODAY!

We were lucky enough to be there together. Our interview was scheduled for 8:30am, however, we arrived at 7:50 and proceeded through security with no problems. Line wasn't bad at all. Once we were given a ticket number we were told to take a seat and wait for our number to be called.

After waiting about 40 minutes, our "I" number was called. We walked up to window 14 and waited about 3 minutes until an English woman came to help us. She was cold, didn't say much of anything, very sarcastic, and questioned everything my fiance said. We were asked to hand over passport, affidavit of support, visa appointment letter and proof of visa payment (Those last two things: you need from the moment you get in line, until you get a decision. Have them in an easily accessible place). The woman then took my fiance's fingerprints, and then handed back his chest x ray results and was told he needs to have it in his hand luggage for entering US. We were then told to sit back down in the waiting area, complete the courier form and wait for your number to be called again (this time for the actual interview).

About 30 minutes passed and our number was called again, we then went to window 15 and was greeted by a very friendly middle aged American man. Verified my fiance's fingerprints first, then he raised his right hand and swore an oath that everything was true and correct to the best of his knowledge and belief. The man then proceeded to ask questions about us and our relationship. Questions were very simple... such as...

1. How did you meet?

2. How have you maintained the relationship (i.e. skype, visits).

3. Why live in America rather than UK? (This threw us off guard). haha

4. What do you both do for work?

5. If any, how much money are you bringing with you to the US?

He then told us we were approved and advised us we would receive the visa in 7-10 days. He explained that your passport (with visa inside) will be delivered to your home. Along with it, will be a sealed envelope with your immigration documents inside. This envelope is to remain sealed and carried in your hand luggage with your chest x ray to give to the customs/immigration at Port of Entry in US.

In total, the process took us 2 1/2 hours. He wished us well and hoped we build a beautiful life together in the United States.

Yay! Congratulations to you both! This is so great to read as I am going to my interview in London on the 15th - next Wednesday. And, although I have read many of these it's so good to read one that is so recent.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Yay!

Yes we both attended.

We contacted the Embassy prior to the interview date and was told we had to contact the operator number (the really expensive number). When we called them to say that my fiance will be attending with me, they told us we had to send an email to londoniv@state.gov

So obviously we done this but never received a reply, so we took our chances on the day and they let us both in fine. My fiance had to show her passport, but apart from that it was easy.
