Got a message from VFS that visa processed for me and family. Time taken around 3 weeks. Got the passports back for the family with valid visa. However, not for myself. VFS says that the passport was recalled back by the US embassy. Any suggestions what might be going wrong :(

Visa Type: J1 Exchange visitor visa (male)

Indian Origin

Interview Date: 02/10/2012

Passport: With the Consulte

Reason (If known): Asked to email a paragraph about past and current research (biology), CV and academic and professional background.

Additional Information Sent: 02/14/2012

Status: Mandatory Administrative Processing, issued 221(g) pink slip

AP Cleared Date:

Been in the US since two years. Passport with the consulate for visa renewal. Any ideas how much time admin processing takes for J1 visa holders.

I am a naturalized american citizen;applied for immigrant visa for my husband in united states. My husband is from Afghanistan living in new delhi as he is studying there and we got married in New Delhi, therefore our case was sent to New Delhi.

Husband's interview date in New Delhi 22 June 2011.

He was given 221g and put into administrative processing.

It has been almost 11 months of administrative processing for him through New Delhi embassy.

In these 11 months he was asked to provide fresh medical and a new passport in December of 2011.

Now after December 2011 no news from the embassy since (5 months), I am here with my husband in new delhi visited the embassy few times and all they tell me is that his case is still under administrative processing.

Another afghan national i saw in embassy once was in administrative processing for 9 months and still no news of his visa.

Basically looks like in New Delhi embassy Afghan nationals can't get out of administrative processing as fast as other cases.

We are going through such a rough time and really losing hope. Is there anything we can do about this situation? I appreciate the help in advance.

My husband is from pakistan and there are quite a few of us still waiting after 9 months as well... We have never been requested to update medical yet but praying daily to hear those words... I got my congressman involved at 6 months and then my senator involved at 9 months so between the two they make monthly inquiries... altho it won't get ap to finish any quicker but it does let the embassy know another government office is watching and waiting as well as us... also as soon as it is finished with the checks the embassy will let the congressman/senator know and move the case for processing without delay

It's just the heartbreak of loving someone from a MENA country... some get the visas very quickly some after a few months of AP and then those like us are still waiting to hear our happy ending...

Wishing you luck and good news soon

Husband's interview date in New Delhi 22 June 2011.

He was given 221g and put into administrative processing.

It has been almost 11 months of administrative processing for him through New Delhi embassy.

In these 11 months he was asked to provide fresh medical and a new passport in December of 2011.

Updates on my husbands case.

July 4th he received a letter from New Delhi consulate that his AP is complete but he was asked to come for a 2nd interview and bring fresh DS 230, Police Clearance and Medical report.

September 13th he went for his second interview. No questions were asked from him, he had to take Oath and turn in all the documents. His passport was kept and his case has been put into AP for Second Time.

At the end of Interview the consulate kept his passport and they gave him a letter stating:

Please bear with us while your case undergoes mandatory processing. We have retained your passport to more quickly process your visa when the processing has been completed. When the processing is complete we will send your passport and visa to you via VFS.

My husband's first AP was from 22 June 2011 to 4 July 2012. AP for almost 13 months in New Delhi consulate.

His Case is Under administrative processing for the Second time since September 13, 2012.

I have a few questions and i would appreciate it if anyone could help me out.

Will my husband be issued a visa after this administrative processing. How long does 2nd APs last, is it shorter than the first AP.

How long does it take the consulate to issue the visa, after the visa is granted.
