Question about the validity date of NOA2 approval notice

Good Morning,

Hoping that someone can shed some light on something that is confusing me. We received our NOA2 yesterday and on the NOA2 it states Notice Type: Approval Notice. It then says underneath Valid from 02/02/2012 to 06/01/2012. Does this mean that all paperwork processing and interview is to take place before this date? What if I can't get an interview at the consulate (Montreal) until after that date (06/01/2012)then what happens? Does it mean that the visa approval is null and void?

I know that I should contact NVC in the next 2 weeks to obtain my case number.

I also need clarification on what to prep before hand and what forms that I can send once my info has been sent to Montreal

I am assuming that once the K1 is issued then I have up to 6 months to activate and once activated then we have to get married within 90 days of POE and then file AOS right after

If someone can answer this question, it would be greatly appreciated.

I called USCIS and tried to obtain information but as I am the beneficary they wouldn't give me any info and my fiancee doesn't have as much patience when it comes to this as I do.

Thanks

Moe

yes, correct.

you will get an interview n this timeframe, dont worry

I know that I should contact NVC in the next 2 weeks to obtain my case number.

also correct

I also need clarification on what to prep before hand and what forms that I can send once my info has been sent to Montreal

they will send you a package that will have a list with the documents they need you to bring with you at the interview

I am assuming that once the K1 is issued then I have up to 6 months to activate and once activated then we have to get married within 90 days of POE and then file AOS right after

you have 6 mntsh to leave the country, come to the states and get married within 90 days from the date of entry, then file AOS

If someone can answer this question, it would be greatly appreciated.

You dont even have to wait two weeks to contact NVC.I was approved on 02/01/12 and I contacted them on 02/6/12 they confirmed receipt of the petition and provided me with the case number.I am calling daily to see if it has been sent yet.

NO: The 06/01/2012 date is not a drop dead date for the whole process to be completed, that date pertains to the 129 petition only and it needs to be valid for the beneficary to start the K-1 application, the K-1 needs to be started before that 06/01/2012. The actual K-1 visa is another process completely and has its own time frame for completion, and even that can be extended at the discretion of the embassy.

I know that I should contact NVC in the next 2 weeks to obtain my case number.

I also need clarification on what to prep before hand and what forms that I can send once my info has been sent to Montreal.

Go to the GUIDES at the top of this page to read up on what prep you need for your embassy.

I am assuming that once the K1 is issued then I have up to 6 months to activate and once activated then we have to get married within 90 days of POE and then file AOS right after

Never A$$-U-ME! I have read that the 6 months is tied to the date of your physical more so then the date the visa is issued.

If someone can answer this question, it would be greatly appreciated.

I just called NVC and got my case#. The lady on the phone was so sweet and helpful. She informed me that they received the petition yesterday and sent it out to Montreal today...wooohoo! Thanks for letting me know that you called so shortly after you received your NOA2....wouldn't have done that unless you had said something. I cannot believe how quick the turnaround time was.
