I am looking to DCF In Moscow to petition for my wife, and which I gather I need to file a CR-1. Since this is a more refined topic, I am having trouble finding which specific documents are needed, as even the US site in Moscow has no answers for me, it seems a bit outdated. I had tried calling, but someone had directed me into the email, or an appointment.

I am a US citizen, and I have resided in Russia for more than a year, no residency permit though, and I hope this doesnt affect anything.

I found information on how to apply, and interview and stuff, but no information on documents required.

We had planned on me going back to the US to file USCIS, which I had everything planned out, documents and all, but now that we decided to DCF, I do not know what changes, what documents are different that I need.

If anyone has been through this, please feel free to share your information, I would be most appreciative.

You'll need proof that you live here permanently to file DCF (and I strongly recommend you do file DCF if you want a short turnaround). I used my work permit, work visa, employment agreement and lease agreement for my flat. Some subset of those documents would probably suffice.

Documents are the same as filing through the Lockbox, but they'll want to meet you and your wife for an interview when you submit your I-130. We brought photos of our wedding, reception, vacations together, etc.

USCIS office is open every weekday from 1pm to 4pm, and no appointment is necessary.

Our timeline:

01/11/12 - Submitted I-130s to Moscow USCIS in person

01/12/12 - Had interview with Moscow USCIS officer to establish bonafide marriage

01/12/12 - I-130s approved and passed to US Consulate

01/13/12 - IV Unit in Moscow received approved petition

01/23/12 - We received confirmation that I-130s were approved by USCIS

01/24/12 - We received package notification from post office

01/26/12 - Picked up "package" - notifications from IV Unit with case numbers

01/26/12 - Set interview date online

02/01/12 - Passed medical exams

02/02/12 - Received police record

02/09/12 - Interview... APPROVED!

02/13/12 - Visa delivered

02/23/12 - POE Chicago

Hmm.. See like I was saying above the only proof I have Ive been here over a year are visas and stamps, i really have nothing else, I do not own anything, no job, nothing. Can I get her mom and her bosses to write that they have been responsible for me over the plus year and responsible for getting me my private visas? This is all i have to go on.

Yes, it's worth a shot. Have you called them yet? They were very helpful to me over the phone (and it's free).

No need for financial documents or forms within USCIS. Just I-130, supporting documents for it, evidence of bonafide marriage, and evidence of residence in Russia (for DCF).

I called, and wanted information over the phone, but the guy told me if I didnt have an appointment then to make one, and he gave me their email.. Maybe he didnt full understand what I wanted?

I see you got yours done in 1 month, congrats.

I am just super stressed out today. I personally have no money because I had to shut down my bank account due to "security" issues that they wouldnt send me a new card.

I have pretty much nothing, it is all back home.

I dont know what they will be looking at though. I think I understand everything I need to bring to DCF..

Let me try to explain things here.

The wife wants to leave today to Moscow if possible. She wants to start the application. Tuesday I have to leave to Finland for a whole month, to get a new private visa (long story).. I saw how quick they processed yours, I am afraid that while I am gone that they will call her to the interview.

I still dont have my co sponsors papers (Tax returns, letter from his job, pay stubs, drivers license, birth certificate) and after spending nearly 2 hours on the phone last night with the IRS trying to get my Tax papers, they are sending it to my brothers house, so they wont arrive to his house till next next week, then take like 2 weeks to ship here to SPB. But I dont know if copies will work instead, because if so then I wil lcall them back up and get them to fax my stuff.

And i dont know if you can reschedule an interview or how many times.. Because I think that may have to happen. And Senya thinks that after February people will start lining up because it is closer to summer and we will have to wait longer to get our green card.

Very stressful, and Im just spinning in a circle, afraid I will bring or do the wrong things.

And the bonafide marriage, can we just have someone write a letter that they were there during our marriage, and have proof of its existence when I DCF? Or can I show pictures or something?

I had a job.. >.> but I cant tell them that.

Drug dealer? Pimp? lol. Seriously, what's up with that?

I called, and wanted information over the phone, but the guy told me if I didnt have an appointment then to make one, and he gave me their email.. Maybe he didnt full understand what I wanted?

Sounds like it. They were very helpful to me over the phone, and never required an appointment. Are we talking about the same guys? USCIS in the Moscow Embassy?

I see you got yours done in 1 month, congrats.

Thanks!

I am just super stressed out today. I personally have no money because I had to shut down my bank account due to "security" issues that they wouldnt send me a new card.

I have pretty much nothing, it is all back home.

Nothing wrong with that. Most my assets are in US bank/brokerage accounts too. Incidentally, you can qualify for I-864 using assets alone if they're sufficient. Not that I know the thresholds... I only provided my income. Prefer to keep my assets to myself, thank you very much!

Not claiming that I'm better than you, but each case is different. You really can't assume to know how long each step will take.

Copies of tax returns are acceptable, and not needed until the IV Unit interview. Sorry, but RTFM... it's all in the instructions.

And i dont know if you can reschedule an interview or how many times.. Because I think that may have to happen.

You can reschedule at least once, because we did it ourselves. Most likely you can do it many times, but I can't guarantee that since I didn't try it.
