:help: My father has been filing an I-130 for my brother and me since October 29, 2009. They have approved my brother’s case from September 10, 2010. Since then we haven’t gotten an answer. For my case they have received my response to their Request for Evidence on the 14th of December 2011 and it is being processed at the California Service Center. I clearly don’t understand why it is taking so long. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

***** Moving from MENA to South America forum as OP is from Jamaica *****

How old are you and your brother, are you married and is your dad a US citizen or greencard holder?

How long you will have to wait depends on these answers. For example, as the unmarried sons of a US citizen over 21 years of ago, you'll be waiting around 7.5 years: http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5640.html

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

BlessChild26 - you clearly don't understand why it is talking so long. It appears that you and your brother are adults/over 21 and therefore are both subjected to the visa cut off dates. See the link posted above by the previous poster. You will not receive any correspondence or answer since they are not ready to deal with you or your brother's case.

Yes, so your wait is about another 5 years. Maybe a little less, maybe a little more, but don't expect to hear anything for 4-5 years.

Seems CSPA could have helped the younger one but appear to be too late now.

CSPA indeed may help the younger once your age has been freezed in at the time of the i-130, then you are good. However, if you had past the age of 21 and was on the petition then, it will take a while...can even be 5-6 yrs before a visa becomes available.

Took my sister 4.5 yrs before we heard anything and only 2 of the 4 children getting thru on the petition. The other 2 priority date going to be something different and at a later date.

Case #1: CR1 & CR2-Hubby & Kids
6/6/11...Priority Date
7/2011...NOA2 ~44 days
8/5/2011...NVC & IIN # Received
9/12/11... CR1 & Cr2 cases completed. ~37 days
11/4/11... CR1 & CR2 Interview APPROVED!!!
11/2011... POE

9/2011.....NVC Case # received.
1/2012....AOS Bill Paid & I864 sent.
2/2012....IV Bill Paid & DS 230 sent
2/2012....**Case on Child Status Protection Act Review**
