My wife received her U.S. visa, and has the name Sheena Jose like on her Indian passport. How can she change the name to Sheena Tony, I'm Tony her husband. She also received her social security card, and also it says Sheena Jose, how do I change it to Sheena Tony?

Also, what should we do next? She's been here in the U.S. for about 2 months now. She has her green card, and social security card now. What's the next step? What's this adjustment of status? Do I need to that that, or is it automatic?

Thank you,

Tony

You cannot change the name on the visa - it will be the name in the passport.

You can change the name in the passport by applying for a new passport from her country.

You can change the name on the SSN by using the marriage certificate and going to the SSO and requesting the name change.

You can change the name on the green card by applying for a new green card and paying the fees and waiting aprox 6 months to get a new green card with her married name on it.

Please read the guides - there is no adjustment of status for CR-1/IR-1 entrants to the USA - she already has her green card.
