All I can say is that it is really up to the local offices. I heard NY has the longest process time. And some K-1 AOS people's cases transfer to Service Center and among them end up getting GC without interview.

All other AOS cases are being handled by local offices. If I'm wrong, please correct me!

If we were talking about the processing of i-129f petitions I'd probably join you in those thoughts. Right now, it's not just a matter of flipping through pages, approved/denied and then onward to the embassy and let them handle the rest.

The local offices may be backlogged or not, have difficult cases or simply not enough time to schedule all interviews within the time stated on the webpage.

..but they work behind closed curtains so unless I stuff myself into a petition/application-box, I wouldn't now for sure.

Getting approved earlier than others.. Expedites most likely. Unless there's a trend and it's more than a couple of people working within a certain field, I wouldn't give it too much thought.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

ok so the question was not relating to adjustment of status. She is a k1 filer. What you are saying is true. People process cases at different paces. Certain petitions are a priority and sometimes they have to shift people around to take care of that backlog and then they return to the original petitions they were processing. There are so many reasons in which we will not be informed of. Also please keep in mind never go by the count of what you see on here. That is just a small portion of the different types of petitions that are waiting to be reviewed. There are people on here that have been waiting for more than a year without explanation and then there are some you get approved within a month. You really just have to have patience and take it one day at a time. It will be worth it in the end.

I really think they generally go by filing dates, but then, to keep their average processing time lower, they'll pick some «new arrivals» and just process them. That could explain why some people wait months on end, and some fly through in less than 90 days.

For the filters who get approved in weeks, those are either expedites or cases where the petitioner resides in the beneficiary's country. I've seen some of those process in 10 - 14 days.

I heard the rumor that it might be because of the size of the file. I sent in two I-130's and i kept it simple. They both were approved in 52 days. I've heard of people sending in mounds of paperwork and evidence, but I didn't do that. Who knows, it could be as simple as they look through all the files and try to choose ones that aren't that big or detailed. Then do that. The person who did mine must've been happy because they did two petitions rapidly, so i'm sure it kept their average time down. Someone told me to keep it simple and not give the person to much to look through. So i guess it worked for me, and i'm sure plenty of others.
