Hi, I will be applying for my ROC in early May 2012. My husband travels with his work and may be in Africa durning this time.

Does he have to be here for this part of the process or can he sign papers before he leaves??

Is there an interview at this time?

What can I do to help this situation if he happens to be out of the country during this time?

He doesn't have to be here necessarily. You will need him to sign the application as you are filing jointly. There's a small chance of an interview at this stage and there's not way of telling whether or not you'll get called in for one (seems to be either random drawing or if you raise any red flags). If you do get an interview he will have to go to that, yes. The process is taking about 6 months at this point so he may even be back before you get approved/an update. You should get your biometric appointment about 30 days after filing but you can go to that alone. Good luck!
