Hello,

I am a US citizen and in a process of getting a permanent resident card for my wife whom I married last year. We just got biometric scheduled, but do not know when the interview will be. As I prepare the tax return for 2011 filing jointly, I am preparing to submit W-7 form to obtain ITIN. The best supporting documentation for form W-7 is her passport. But I am hesitant to send her passport to IRS because we may need to bring her passport to the interview with USCIS.

Does anyone know if we need to bring her passport to the interview? Her friend told her that passport is not needed for the interview, but I want to be 100% certain before I send her passport to IRS.

Thank you.

AP is 'Advance Parole' If you want to travel outside of the country while you are waiting for the Green card then you can apply for this. Most people apply for it with AOS even if they don't need it because it's free so, hey, may as well, lol. I really couldn't be bothered with it and i've no plans to travel anytime soon so i just didn't bother.

Thank you, everyone.

Does anyone know how to notarize a copy of the passport or driver license? I called the bank who notarize the documents, but they told me that they don't do the copy of passport or driver license.

I also called department of public safety but they do not issue certified driver license.

When you get an interview letter from USCIS it will specify the time, date, place, and what you need to bring to the interview. When I had my AOS interview almost 3yrs ago I had to bring my passport but all she did was look through it. You'll know what you need to bring when the appointment letter comes for the interview. I hope this helps.

Passport is mandatory for her interview, if she has one. On the appointment notice, it is listed that you need to bring ''All travel documents used to enter the U.S.''. That stands for passport, I-94 and Advance Parole card if she has one.

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012
