Last time I entered the USA was in May/11 through Calgary International Airport (Canada). Before going through customs to get on a plane, I was to fill out a form indicating who I was (with flight and passport number) and where I was headed. I now believe that to be the I-94?? But when I went through customs, my passport was stamped and that paper was taken WITHOUT anything given back. When I flew back to Canada, again we were given a paper on the plane where we had to fill out how long we were gone and the amount of money we spent etc. This was given to them when again we went back through customs to enter Canada. (I'm just confused because the way that I read it is: you were to fill out an I-94 slip and they were supposed to give you a return piece as well so you could go back to Canada?) So my trip was May 1-May 8/ 2011.

This time when I entered the USA (Dec 18, 2011) again through Calgary International Airport, I did the same thing. Filled out the paper (and again I never actually paid attention to what it was called because it's just something you have to fill out before they even allow you to walk to customs) Took said filled out paper to customs, but this time they never even stamped my passport. And again, I never got a return piece of paper (if I was supposed to?)

I got married to an American, (without the intent when I came here) so we are filing for I-130 & I-485. Along the check list for these, it asks for the I-94 number. Something I've clearly never had. So I have looked up, and found that you can file for a replacement (the I-102) but I find it absolutely ridiculous to have to pay $300+ for something I never had in the first place. And I'm confused as to why my passport was not stamped, (but I read something about it being electronically done?) I still have my plane tickets from when I came here, is that something that can help?

Basically my question is, what the heck do I do? :) Thanks!!

You don't file anything to get an I-94. Canadians are not given I-94s when they travel as visitors.

When you fill out the form you write Visitor Canadian in the appropriated section. Thats it.

Also moving this to AOS from tourist. As this is not a CR-1 question.
