Hello to Everyone,

I am new to VJ. It would be much appreciated if someone please let me know what does it mean when CO says Additional processing. My IV interview has been taken at Dhaka embassy more than three months ago. After the interview the CO gave me a blue paper where he wrote "Additional processing required, we will contact you as soon as the process is complete". The CO also mentioned that my interview was a success and I didn't need to provide any more document. Sorry, don't know whether or not this is the right place to write.

Dear Hasikana,

It is difficult to find any information about you from your profile. Also you haven't set up the timeline yet which make it difficut for others to answer depending on your situation. There are x number of visa categories and based on the categories, some of the answers could be really different. Assuming you applied for immigration (with whatever category) below are some basic information:

Administrative Processing (AP) - Generally all muslim men (don't even know if you are male or female) from countries on the *list of 26* between the ages of 18-45 get pulled for extra security checks. Getting a visa approval on the spot is few and far between in these areas and can take a week or even months (for Bangladesh, lately I've noticed few getting visa between 4 and 5 months) to complete.

AP is extremely common for men of certain national origin.

Dear hellraiser,

Thanks for the reply. My case is F2A and I am a Bangladeshi male. On my blue paper, it does not say "Administrative Processing" rather it says "Additional Processing".

AP aka administrative/additional/advance processing is nothing but a placeholder for taking time for various reasons and only god knows what they could be; from name check to background check to anything and everything. As such they tried to keep it as generic as possible. As you said you had your interview 3 months ago and I am guessing you are the husband or son who is either under or over 21 year of age, or father who's is dependant ofthe petitioner and at this moment all you can do is wait. Once a case goes to AP depending on what kind o checking embassy is going to initiate will determine how long you have to wait. However you also need to consider that certain case type will have higher priority than yours.

I would say roughly wait another month or so and then on every Friday, call DOS in the afternoom time and request them to see if there is any update on your case. I do not think they will be too big o a help as their answers could be really limited to few words. It is all testing your patience at this moment. So hold tight, and wait. As the interview went well and this is something that happens to all, a common practice, don't stress yourself out. Enjoy the last few months in BD and have fun :-)

Good luck and best wishes for you.

So sad both my husband and daughter put on administrative processing. They a in different countries and have been given different reasons. My husband was told they need to investigate why he did nit come with me when I won.the DV in 2007. He could not because he was in another country and could not be in the country I was for the visas. And financially we could not have made it for two people how long do we have to wait. My daughter there were missing documents , guardianship letter and biodata form which I supplied, then they said why am I working as nurse without a degree in America, which I explained to them that you can work as a nurses without a degree showed them my proof of employement. Pay stubs and nursing license. Then they said my 2009 taxes have discrepancies, they want to know who did them, how I know the person and why I choose to go to that person. I gave them all that info and the info for the agent that did my taxes. They wrote me e mail saying they will tell me when they will proceed with my daughter's case. I am so depressed right now, don't even know what to do and can't even afford a lawyer right now
