Same sex marriage will continue to advance across the nation. The old farts that still oppose it will eventually die. The next generation is quite comformatble with marriage equality. You can fight it all you want. You may still be able to slow progress. You just can't stop it. The fight against same sex marriage is a futile exercise.

++ is very young.

Then ++ is part of a very small minority withing his/her age group who will just have to get over it.

You'd be surprised how many young Christians there are that are as anti-gay as ever.

The numbers would shock you.

Luckily for most of us they aren't really politically active. Yet.

Luckily for most of us they aren't really politically active. Yet.

What will shock you is that the numbers (in the real, actual world) in support of same sex marriage (as of last March) are as follows:

18-29: 68% (+11 since '05)

30-39: 65% (+23 since '05)

40-49: 52% (+17 since '05)

50-64: 45% (+8 since '05)

65-__: 33% (+15 since '05)

It would follow, then, that there are either fewer Christians among today's 18-29 age bracket or that young Christians have become more accepting. The trend is clear across all age groups - support for marriage equality is rising. Last year, for the first time ever, the majority of Americans favored marriage equality for same sex couples. This majority includes majorities among white Catholics (63%) and white non-evangelical Protestants (57%). Support is also strong among independents (58%) and moderates (63%). Conservative Evangelical Republicans are the only ones left in the past. And even among them, support has been rising by almost 10 points since 2005. It's been a long time coming. And it will happen.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."
