Hello VJers,

Is there a fee for the adjustment of status (AOS)? If there is, how much would it cost? We are getting married next month and we want to know the fees that we still need to take care of. Thanks for your time and God bless :)

OUR JOURNEY

January 3, 2010 - sent an email via Facebook (while deployed in IRAQ)

May 25, 2010 - 1st vacation in Manila, 1st time to meet in person

June 27, 2010 - OFFICIAL

June 28, 2010 - Promise Ring =)

February 8, 2911 - 2nd vacation in Manila

February 13, 2011 - proposed to Cheryl's parents

February 14, 2011 - asked Cheryl to be my wife, Engagement Ring =)

February 24, 2011 - family engagement get together

K1 VISA JOURNEY:

July 1, 2011 – I-129F filed for petition K1 VISA @ California Service Center

July 5, 2011 – NOA1 received

October 25, 2011 – NOA2 received

January 20, 2012 – Interview => K1 VISA Approved =)

January 31, 2012 - Received American VISA =)

March 5, 2012 - Wedding Rings!!! =)

March 15, 2012 - Got the civil wedding dress! ;)

March 21, 2012 - POE @ LAX

March 27, 2012 - Civil Wedding!!! :) :) :)

AOS JOURNEY:

April 20, 2012 - submitted AOS docs

April 25, 2012 - Received NOA for AOS and EAD

April 30, 2012 - Received NOA for BIOMETRICS

May 21, 2012 - Biometrics

August 8, 2012 - Received NOA for I-797C AOS Initial Interview for Sept 12, 2012

September 12, 2012 - Green Card APPROVED =)

We just filed last week, and paid for $1,070.

01-30-2012: Submitted AOS application thru USPS (Chicago Lockbox)
02-06-2012: Received Text/Email, application received by USCIS
02-10-2012: Received mail/hard copy of I-131 (NOA)
02-15-2012: Received mails/hard copies of I-765 & I-485 (NOAs) / Mail for Biometrics Appt.
03-06-2012: Biometrics Appointment done
03-14-2012: Received mail for Interview Appt on 16th April 2012.
04-04-2012: EAD/AP approved
04-12-2012: EAD/AP card received ;-)
04-16-2012: Interview day - Approved! (waiting for GC)
04-23-2012: Welcome Letter touched
05-03-2012: GC on hand!

Just checking if the AOS fee is still $1070? I saw on another thread that the fees for K1 visa went down recently.

Did the AOS cost change? ( fingers crossed).

The cost of the visa processing fee went down to $240. The payment that is made to DoS in order to have a visa interview in the intending immigrant's country. The petition filing fee paid to the USCIS remained unchanged at $340. No form filing fees for USCIS have changed recently, and when they do, they tend to up, not down. The current fee is always listed in the I-145 instructions that you can get directly from the USCIS website. $985 for the filing fee, and $85 for the biometrics fee = $1070.
