Hey!

I need an advice, if anyone made the same mistake as i did. I sent my papers for gc a week ago and today i realized i did something wrong. I payed the fees for I-130, I-485 and I payed the fee for I-765. But i shouldn't have payed the fee for I-765 because i've send it with I-485. Now I don't know what to do...should I leave it like that and they will return my money back or should i try to call the bank to cancel that check? But the original check is in the envelope that i already send...

Please help asap! Thank you!

Thank you for responding me! I've send 3 checks: 420$ for I130, 1070$ for I485 and 380$ for I765...so first 2 checks are correct. The 3rd one i shouldn't have send it... I just hope this won't make all the process longer ...

If they send it back it for sure will make the process longer since you are going to loose time from when you sent it 1st time till when you sent it 2nd time...

Yes, many. Which is odd, since it is stated on USCIS website and in the form instructions that when filed with I-485, there is no fee for the I-765.. however, it still seems to be one of the most common mistakes for people to make.

Even though you included an extra check for the I-765 and the other checks are for correct amounts, it is very likely that USCIS will reject the whole package and send everything back to you. You will then remove the extra check, and send everything else back as it was. When people have send USCIS extra checks, I have never seen a case where only the extra check was returned and the rest kept - USCIS will bounce everything back to you. This will inevitably delay the process for a week or two, but it's not the end of the world.

Thank you for your answers...but it's so hard for me to believe they are going to do that...I made 3 envelops for all 3 forms, each with it's check ...if the other ones are correct can't they just sent back only the I765 form? Why to reject all of them? So frustrated!!! I don't know why i didn't saw that i don't have to pay that fee!!! I did the package by myself and when i read the instructions from the USCIS site i didn't understood that those fees are included! I really don't think it's that clear for people with poor English. :(((

If i won't receive anything from them tomorrow i will probably start checking the mail :(...When you are afraid of something, that's what happens :((((

Hi do not panic...we did the same mistake, they cashed the two checks and mailed us back the extra check, they did not return the whole package, just the extra check:))

Well there you go - never say never I guess. Hopefully in your case the same will happen as with Judy Jones - and if not, as I said, it won't be the end of the work. Rejection is not a denial - you'll just send the papers back to USCIS sans the extra check, if they bounce the whole package back to you.

Thank you Judy Jones and Little_Me!!!

I know is not the end of the world...is just that i don't have patience anymore...I just want to know that all this process started and i am a little step forward and not in the same point again...

I hope they will do the same thing as in Judy Jones case...and i also hope to hear something from them tomorrow, i've send the package on 02.01 and they received it on 02.02....so there are a few days...

I think only people who went through this process can understand others in the same situation...My husband can't understand my stress. :(

So, thanks everybody!

I just want to say what happened in my case with paying to much money, maybe it will help someone else who makes the same mistake. 2 days ago i called to USCIS to ask them what is going to happen with my package, if they will deny or just send the check back and they said if the amount is not correct, they will deny it. Yesterday i finally received all 3 mails and text messages with my cases numbers and today i received my check back. So, in my case they just send it back. Good luck everybody!
