Had my AOS interview today - approved on spot and got GC stamp in passport so I can travel next week.

In a couple of recent posts I was worried about my wife not being able to find birth certificate and not receiving AP card, neither of these were a problem, neither were asked for. Background of me and my wife for others who may be interested.

My wife is 10 years older than me and of a different race, she was naturalized in her teens - None of this came up during interview.

Arrived at 9am for 9.30 interview at Newark. Was called for at about 10am.

Interviewed by woman who was pleasant but very professional i.e. no chit chat.

*Started of by wanting to see originals of things we submitted with original application. We had them all no problem.

*After this she asked us how we met, we both answered at the same time saying the same thing but in different ways and my wife getting the name of the place wrong! I thought this would be very bad but apparently not!

*Asked to see supporting evidence, I produced - joint bank, car insurance, medical and dental insurance, screen shot of our IMs, verizon bill - even though my name isn't on it my phone number is, 15 photos of us together around the world inc a couple with her family

*She asked for photos of the wedding and I told her I deleted them by mistake! This was news to my wife who obviously hadn't listened to me properly when I had told her! Anyway this again looked bad me and my wife saying we forgot to include them and me saying I had deleted them. In the end it passed with the IO saying she would of been so mad!!

*Asked the yes/no questions

*Can't remember what she exactly said but said, I'm going to approve your app explained about lifiting restrictions

*I told her I was planning on leaving the country for a couple of days in 10 days time, IO said GC wouldn't come through in time and she volunterred to put GC stamp in my passport - this I feel was fortunate.

*Said good bye

All in all the interview was less than 30 minutes and a pleasant experience. My gut feeling is that you need to bring lots of supporting docs.

Any questions please ask

Now need to start all over and get my wife british residency!

Do I need to do anything with my SSN? I still have it from my J1 days

Only if you're approved on the spot. If they said they will review your case, your AP is still valid.

I still have it from my J1 days

congrats
