Okay so my husband and I were married Nov 19, 2011 in the US. I came on a K-1 if it matters and he is now in the process of filing his income tax for 2011. Does he file as single, married, jointly? I myself have income from Canada for 2011. I assume he files as married since we are married at time of taxes but if he files I need a SSN which I do not have yet. We have also not yet filed AOS, that is in process. Any thoughts? Advice?

Since you were married in 2011 you would file married. I would wait until you have your SSN to file, since his return is not due until April 15. He could file "married filing separately" but frankly I would just wait since you could have your SSN easily by April 15.

"Married filing jointly" and "Married filing separately" will have different tax rates so generally filing jointly would be prefered from a US tax situation, but with your foreign income.... frankly I'd recommend talking to a tax professional. You have time.
