What would happen to the cost of an abortion in a private clinic if the goverment quit paying for or subsidizing them. What would cause the increase or decrease in price?

Generally the Gov runs up the price of things it is involved in just look at the cost of college, the more grants they give the higher the price goes.

It's a simple outpatient procedure so it wouldn't be too much.

However, poor people couldn't pay for them so when girls started showing up to the ER with "abdominal pains" taxpayers would be forced to pay the bill anyway. "But slim, doctors wouldn't be required to do abortions." They would when girls show up with hangers hanging out of them.

So do you support cheap abortion? Free abortion or expensive abortion?

Nobody is more likely to get an abortion because it is cheap. If someone is in danger of "ruptured uterus", price doesn't matter.

Birth control is much cheaper than an abortion, but for some reason the people who are anti-abortion, are usually also anti-birth control. It all seems to come down to controlling women's bodies and forcing pregnancy on them.

Lot's of people would forego an abortion just because it is too expensive. If the price of Abortion were suddenly raised to $20,000 there would be a precipitous drop in the number of abortions.

An increase of abortions combined with the non-existent general health care in the U.S. would increase business for the free practitioners who do it for less. Capitalism at work.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

You really don't know your enemy do you, it isn't about controlling woman its about the moral aspect of it.

Its been my experience that the issue has been with marketing birth control to young people not birth control in general.

We have great health care in the U.S., how is it non-existent? It may not be as cheap or as affordable (or free-still not sure how the economic genies will make it "free", somebody will pay) as many would like it to be. However, it does exist.

No. There would be a drop in $20,000 abortions. Have you seen the cost of a college education lately?

If you are against abortion and believe that the government should be making choices FOR us, then just say so. Present your case for the government controlling our lives and making our decisions for us.

Otherwise you sound like silly PETA members that protest hunting bears with bait. As if hunting them without bait is OK with them.

The premise here is that the price has been raised to $20,000

There would still be a demand for abortion even at that price so

the number of $20,000 abortions would increase not decrease as you stated.

The number of abortions would decrease because a lot of people could not afford it.

It is simple economics

Moral aspect? Is it moral to tell someone they have to be forced to have a baby with Down's syndrome? What next, will you force women to go off all medication during pregnancy? It would make the baby healthier after all! (Mom might die though.) Where does it stop?

If someone is on tetragenic drugs, and accidentally gets pregnant, are you for forcing them to have a baby with birth defects? Are you offering to take care of it to?

I'd love to see an example of an actual ad that is marketing birth control to young people. I can't think of any condom that has a cartoon mascot, and I don't think condoms even get TV ads in the USA. In fact, I'm not sure I've seen /any/ ad for birth control here.

Nope, people spend $900 on iPads so it shouldn't be a problem to buy expensive health insurance.

We may see a return to the good old days. The number of $20 DIY abortions would increase, as would the number of $100000 surgeries for emergency hysterectomy, perforated colon, and peritoneal rupture repair.
