I-1864a question

In Part 1 it is asking for "information on Sponsor's househould member or sponsored Immigrant/household Member"

This would be Stewart, right?

If so it asks for the SSN...."mandatory for non-citizens"

??? I don't get it. I mean S. has one because of his past visas but would most immigrants NOT have one? Why is it required?? I am confused.

help

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I-864a

sorry

also - Is it easy to find notaries in Australia? We BOTH have to sign this form and so I figured it would make sense to do it together in Oz...

thoughts? Otherwise I'd have to do my part now, and he'd do his over there.

and finallly - do I fill it out like he is living with me? So I put OUR address?

I hate forms

Ok, wait wait wait. You only need to fill that out if you are having a cosponser or are using his income or assets for the affidavid. Are you doing that???

Otherwise you just need to fill out the I864. Not the A part. Im thinking that your sponsering him just with your income if I remember correctly!!

Why are you completing -A?

If the immigrant spouse's income (which will continue in the US) is being used, you *might* need one, but I didn't think that was your situation?

Or, like mellie says, if your Joint Sponsor situation requires one.

If you need a US Notary Public while abroad, the staffer in the Consulate can do an Affidavit of Support for you for no additional charge (there is a fee for notarizing other, non visa related docs). Otherwise, notaries that are not specifically US Notary Publics are not sufficient for the I-864.

I've never seen it mentioned for Australia, but petitioners often notarize the I-864 on the interview day, as part of the visa application process.

Hehe! Karo, apparently great minds think alike . . . or paranoid sponsors who miss their husbands and dread filling out a form incorrectly, do . . . I was just about to type in the same questions you had! I'm not using anyone else to sponsor, either, but I just spent 20 minutes trying to figure out if I needed this form or not and how to to fill it out and when to sign. . . LOL Thanks for asking the question! And thanks to meauxna and mellie for taking away a form from the pile! Yahoo!
