Your SSN should say " VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION "

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Sure you can.

You don't need to show the actual card, by the way; all you need to provide is the number.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Yes you can use the SSN for all the things you've mentioned. This is your one and only number. It is your for life. The statment is usually "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION" which means that if you show your SSC to complete the I-9 form, you will have to show the EAD or GC to prove that you have the DHS authorization or you can just show the GC when you get it or the EAD now when applying for a job. That statement has no effect on the SSN for taxes, health insurance, DMV, bank accounts and other financial transactions where they ask for it. IN fact, you may not even have to show the card, just rattle off the number.

If that statement bothers you , you can have it removed by going to the SSA after receiving the GC and apply for a new SSC.

Good luck,

Dave

When I added my wife to my bank accounts, the bank officer asked to see and actually photo copied her SSN card. Not sure if this is an isolated case or more mainstream. Just be aware you may be asked for the card like we were.

Yes, you can do business transactions with your card. However, unlike the actual GC, you are restricted from doing certain things like traveling out of the country. They just want you to know that you are allowed to work while waiting on their decision. All the best.

topic has been moved from AOS forum as SSN concerns are more appropriately addressed in the Working & Travelling During US Immigration forum

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
