Canadian Returning Immigrant Visa Documents

Hi there,

I am a Canadian citizen and last August I completed the immigrant visa process (CR1). Shortly after successfully completing my interview, my wife decided she would prefer to move to Canada. On my last trip across the border I advised them it would be unlikely I would be handing over my documents for permanent residency. They said I would have to contact Montreal to return my immigration package. I have spent the last few hours trying to contact someone at Montreal but I am unable to reach anyone.

The question...

How does one go about returning their visa? Whom can I contact regarding this?

So you got the Mysterious Brown Envelope but never actually handed it to anyone at a border crossing? If so, I don;t think you have to do anything- your visa will simply expire after 6 months and you are done. You could write to the embassy to officially notify them you won't be using the visa.

Yes I have the mysterious brown envelope I just wasn't sure if it was something I should actually return or not. They seemed to think so at the border but my case wasn't one any of them had encountered before.
