The Moscow Embassy website has conflicting information regarding visa delivery, and though several VJ members said that Pony Express is the courier of choice now, I still emailed the consulate for confirmation:

My wife and I are preparing for her CR-1 interview next week and a bit confused since the documents on your website give conflicting instructions.

Regarding delivery of the visa, the English version of the website (http://moscow.usembassy.gov/ivisas_doc.html) states:

“It is necessary to submit the original DHL airway bill for express delivery of your visa after the interview.”

And the PDF file it points to (http://moscow.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/iv-packet4-eng.pdf) contains an entire section on “DHL Delivery of Your Visa”.

The Russian version of the website (http://russian.moscow.usembassy.gov/ivisas_doc.html) has similar wording regarding DHL:

“Необходим ОРИГИНАЛ авианакладной компании DHL, осуществляющей экспресс-доставку визы”

But the PDF file it points to (http://russian.moscow.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/iv-packet4-rus.pdf) states that:

“Если Ваше заявление на иммиграционную визу будет одобрено, мы вышлем Ваш паспорт и пакет документов с курьером компании Pony Express без дополнительной оплаты.”

The website where we scheduled the interview (www.ustraveldocs.com) also mentions Pony Express, but not DHL.

Could you please clarify whether we should obtain a DHL Airway Bill in advance or will Pony Express deliver free of charge?

Took exactly a week for them to respond:

Please follow the instruction for delivery arrangement:

In order to arrange your delivery please visit http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ru and create a new user’s profile. If you immigrate with your family members you must create a profile for each family member immigrating with you. In the profile you should go to 'Visa Type', then 'Immigrant Visa', then 'Moscow', then 'Appointment scheduled by NVC (All IV)'. Select your Visa Class ‘CR1’. Then you should enter the delivery information (mailing address or office for pick-up), print out the final confirmation page containing a barcode (press PDF in order to print) and bring it to the interview. Turn in the confirmation page to the windows at the entrance to the Consular Section after the checking point in the Embassy.

This email is UNCLASSIFIED.

So... exactly as the VJ members said! I should have never doubted ye! :)

Luckily for us, one of the four Pony Express offices is right around the corner from our apartment, so we're feeling optimistic about getting the visa quickly after the interview this Thursday. *fingers crossed*

Thats kinda funny since even on the form you can download to prepare for the interview iv packet4 pdf it states

"Visa delivery. Please submit the original DHL airway bill for express delivery of your visa after the

interview. (See additional information below.)"

then a whole page on how to set up with DHL at the bottom. Hopefully the packet says which to use.

We never got a packet. Just a link to the pdf above, and URL for the website to arrange the interview and delivery address.

In any case, it's 100% Pony Express. Natasha confirmed it at the embassy this morning for her interview.
