Hello VJ's,

Good Day!!!

Well, regarding the CEMAR or certificate of marriage. Am I going to bring just the CEMAR and the proof of termination of previous marriage like a divorce decree certified by the regional trial court? or the I need to bring something else. as it is stated that CENOMAR is only for woman who is never been married.

Thank you please advice on what else to bring...

God bless guys!

Most likely proof from the NSO that your fiancee or fiance is annulled from the previous marriage knowing that there is no such thing as a divorce in Philippines.

Certificate of No Marriage Record (CENOMAR)

means just that so it will have to be a different piece of paper from the NSO

Thank you. I know we don't have divorce here in the Philippines but we filed petition for divorce recognition here and we have the certified thru copy from the regional trial here in the Philippines that the previous married was terminated also.

I would make sure that you file it with the NSO and make sure that NSO makes you a certified copy of it. That would be legit for the US embassy. They are looking for legit documents. So, one with seals, pretty colors of the paper.. stuff like that.

If I recall, my wife had to bring both CENOMAR and Marriage certificate which were both from the NSO to the Embassy interview.

She had to have a copy of the CENOMAR from the NSO prior to us getting married in her town so she already had a copy of her CENOMAR.

Then she obtained a copy of the marriage certificate from the NSO after we were married.

I don't know if she had to prove that she was eligible to marry before we were married because she was applying for a CR1 visa.

How can you get a copy of a CENOMAR from the NSO if you are already married is the question? I don't think you can. I would think that the NSO would only provide a NSO certified copy of the marriage certificate.

Well, if you have been released from marriage then I am sure that you get a Cenomar. It makes sense. Certificate of No Marriage since technically you are "Not Married" Anymore.

But what bothers me is when my fiancee got her cenomar, it just said she had no marriages.

I am sure on yours will say you had previous but has been annulled. Just a little more information on your cenomar then with someone with "no" marriages.

If a marriage is annulled, it is as if the marriage never happened. Technically, "No Marriages" would be the correct status.
