We finally have our interview date. Just curious if there is anything I should be aware of outside of the normal (be on time, bring all the documents used in previous stages etc)? For example, how does the DHL/shipping of the visa work? Do I sign up before hand? Do they take my info down at the interview? Anything else along those lines that I need to do in advance of the interview??? REALLY don't want to overlook anything now that we are so close.

Thanks

Before I answer: timeline.gifAnd your profile. I had to go look at your previous posts to figure out what visa you're applying for.

Yes, you have to sign up for DHL ahead of time. I heard from another Canadian that they're requesting DHL confirmation at the doors and won't let you in unless you have this. Follow the instructions here: http://usvisa-info.c...immigrant_visas Click on the first link in the middle of the page called 'IV Applicant Needing to Register for DHL'. When I signed up for DHL, I took screenshots of each page of the process and uploaded them to my immigration blog. You can find the post linking to the screenshots here: http://journeythroug...-interview.html

Have you done the medical yet? You need to bring the results of the medical with you.

Did you do EP?

Also, even though you did the online form DS-260, Montreal still requires a DS-230, so if you want to save an hour or two, I'd suggest you fill one out and bring it to the interview.

You can't at least fill in what visa you're applying for?

Anyways, since you did EP, make sure you bring the AOS and IV packages, so:

-I-864

-tax info

-original/certified copy of beneficiary's birth certificate

-original/certified copy of marriage certificate

-original police certificate

-two passport pictures

-DS-230 (don't sign or date part 2)

As for tax info, only the most recent year is required. You don't need to have the last three years. Is it a transcript you have for the recent year or just the 1040?

i'm seeing color photographs as a requirement.

are these above and beyond the passport pictures needed or one and the same?

Not sure where you're reading that, but yes, the beneficiary needs 2 passport style pictures (2 inches by 2 inches).

And for the medical, three passport pics are needed.

i also saw in a thread something about pre-post stamped envelopes for dhl for the montreal interview but didn't see anything about this in the guide on travel.gov. do i need these?

Those were the old method of mailing the visa back. Sometime in late 2010, Montreal switched to DHL, providing the service for free. Just sign up for DHL and you're good to go. No need to bring any kind of envelopes. Just bring the DHL confirmation page.

i just have proof from my accountant that years 1 and 2 have been filed. year 3 (most recent) i have actual return. is that sufficient?

Yes, those are the passport pictures that are needed at the interview. Two of them, and as they say, identical.

If you just have the 1040 (and not a tax transcript, which is preferred), then you MUST also include W2s and any other schedules that were filed with the tax return.

Since you have time, I'd highly suggest ordering your tax transcripts for the most recent year.

also should offer letter/pay stub be notarized to prove financial support?

They do not need to notarized. They are not required but more evidence is is better than less.

So, you only need one years of tax records and not three.. if that is the case. it would sure take a load off the weight i have to send to the philippines. I have my three years and my joint taxes for three years. Those 1040 papers can get pretty thick.

Pay stubs and employment letters are OPTIONAL. The only things required for the AOS package were the I-864 and tax information. Pay stubs and employment letters are only to show proof of current income. So, since they're optional, no, they don't need to be notarized.

For NVC, yes, only the most recent year is required. The last three years are optional.

BUT, every consulate/embassy is different. Some go with NVC's guidelines, others have their own. I would suggest you ask in the Philippines sub-regional forum and confirm that just the most recent year is alright. I know for Canada it is. But I don't know about the Philippines.
