If I am at the wrong place for asking, please forgive me but I'm sorry haven't been on here much. We just rec'd our NOA2!!! Jan 26, 2012. My question is, would it be advised for my fiance to see his GP prior to the scheduling of his Medical Exam by USCIS? The reason I ask is that he is 55+ in age we have no idea what vaccincations he will need. Last time he was at his GP he inquired as to what was in his records, they have no record any vaccinations and only a tetnis shot 8 or 10 years ago (not sure of how long); he has no recollection since most were given in early school years. I'm guessing there are some that he will be required to obtain, and if he doesn't have them at the time of the medical exam, he will have to get I assume.....or will the USCIS practioner give them (if they do, I assume they will charge $$$ or pounds)...I think he should get them now at his GP. Can anyone tell me if I am off base here, if he does go to his GP, what shots should he get? thanks for any information, it's much appreciated!!!

Check out this link: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/164203/cons-visa/iv_medical_letter.pdf

There is details there as to what vaccinations are needed. Also, flu vaccination is also needed, during flu season (thats not on that list I don't think, it's a pretty new requirement).

Yes it is advisable to get this sorted before the medical, but not to worry if not. You are applying for a K1 visa? If so, they aren't needed to actually get into the US, BUT will be needed later. So it's better to get them done in the UK prior to leaving.

See this thread, post #1, for the list of shots. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/

Most need new shots anyway, so finding old childhood records isn't useful. If you have further questions, add to that thread.

depending on whether or not the gp has the vaccinations in stock would matter if they had to pay or not, even ifthey don't have them in stock is ALOT cheaper to have his gp do them before hand

I am going to ask my GP closer the time, altho I strongly doubt I will get any vaccination for free, since he didn't even want to have my blood tested recently (never had it tested here in the UK, I usually do when I got back to my homecountry: Italy) ... I have seen there are Travel Health Clinics and prices don't seem very high.. probably it is still cheaper get them done before leaving!! Would you recommend these clinics?

I went to my GP and got my vaccinations for free. Most GPs will have stock because the vaccinations you need to have (other than the Flu vaccine) are the same ones given to children. My GP did not have any flu vaccine left but I called up my local Boot the Chemist - they had stock and charged me £12 for a flu vaccine.

I must say I am not very keen on getting vaccinations, I barely take any medicine at all as I am against "abusing" them. I was wondering, since I've either been vaccinated when I was little for some or I had them, according to the list I should only do the one against tetanus and the flu vaccine. I guess the tetanus comes in a "pack of three": Dtap tho?! Would it be best if I ask the doctor to check the antibodies first? Where shall I go if my doctor doesn't want to get my blood tested for that?

Many thanks for any advice.
