Traditional style.

I'm not a fan of cooking my own food (that's why I bring some hot chicks with me) but it is nice to get it hot off the grill.

Ensure your beneficiary makes and brings with them to the States a copy of the DS-3025 (vaccination form)

Clerk at the embassy this morning claimed we might get the visas back as soon as tomorrow. And if for whatever reason they're unable to process the visa in time, we can pick up Natasha's passport without it (for the Korea trip), and get the visa attached when we return the next week to Moscow.

Our timeline:

01/11/12 - Submitted I-130s to Moscow USCIS in person

01/12/12 - Had interview with Moscow USCIS officer to establish bonafide marriage

01/12/12 - I-130s approved and passed to US Consulate

01/13/12 - IV Unit in Moscow received approved petition

01/23/12 - We received confirmation that I-130s were approved by USCIS

01/24/12 - We received package notification from post office

01/26/12 - Picked up "package" - notifications from IV Unit with case numbers

01/26/12 - Set interview date online

02/01/12 - Passed medical exams

02/02/12 - Received police record

02/09/12 - Interview... APPROVED!

02/13/12 - Visa delivered

02/23/12 - POE Chicago

That works too.

What type of visa does she have for Korea?

Last I knew it was pretty difficult for Russians to get there.

What type of visa does she have for Korea?

Last I knew it was pretty difficult for Russians to get there.

It was a little bit of an effort - to say the bloody least.

I'm used to being quite autonomous about most visa issues, so upon collecting the documents I saw fit as well as filling in the forms, I called the embassy and having little to no luck obtaining information from a ridiculously rude employee, I went to the Embassy the next day and got shot down instantly by this 40-something, unmarried, clearly miserable Russian woman. She coldly flipped through the papers I slid through the window, with much disdain in her facial expression and soon said I needed an official invitation from a Korean citizen, nevertheless - albeit I said that I'm going with my husband, and he's going there for business.

She said 'You think that just because you are married to an American you can go anywhere? Not at all!'. I realized I was getting nowhere and concluded that it was actually her that I had spoken with on the phone earlier, and thus decided to ask her to hand me back the package of documentation she was holding. She literally, blatantly refused to give it back to me - I insisted, asking her if she wanted a scene to erupt and very, very reluctantly she chucked my papers back at me.

Upon looking around the small, spartan waiting room I saw a dude holding a huge stack of papers and instantly recognized that he was a courier. I went up to him, and mastering the sweetest smile ever, asked if he worked with any tour agencies accredited by the embassy, and after some small talk, walked away with a whole list of them. I found one closest to my house and went there, paid them 100$ in Russian roubles (which is the exact amount I'd have paid at the embassy), and got told that I'll hear from them in 6 days.

Mid-waiting time, I get a phone call saying that the embassy is requesting additional information about my husband, we were hands-on about getting it to them, and thought the adventure ought to be over at that - little did we know, the embassy was -holding- my passport and actually didn't want to hand it over to the courier, the travel agency called me and said the embassy wanted me to pick it up personally but I insisted profusely they figure something out in order to have it at their office and they must have, because we were able to pick it up from them.

So in retrospect - I guess the paperwork required to get the visa was not uncanny, it's a single entry visa, valid for up to 90 days - I used the same documents I would have for an average Shengen, but the PITA required to actually have it in hand kind of sucked.

Pony Express delivered Natasha's visa this morning (2 business days - not bad at all), but our daughter's still hasn't shown up. Natasha's on the phone with PE now trying to ascertain where it is.

Hi, our interview date is set for March 20. I am wondering if anyone has any idea of how long after the 20th she will have to wait for her passport to be sent back to her with the visa? Thanks.

How soon are we able to schedule the interview for after the NVC receives the NOA2 petition approval? I mean, I've seen that most people have scheduled anywhere from 30 - 60 days away, but is this based on the embassy's availability or the couple's needs? I think that's much more time than needed to get everything that we need.
