Hi, our interview date is set for March 20. I am wondering if anyone has any idea of how long after the 20th she will have to wait for her passport to be sent back to her with the visa? Thanks.

Fastest is usually to pick it up at the delivery office, Pony Express for Russia, typically 2 days, but requires that you stay in or around Moscow. Deliver to home will be within 7 days usually.

I quote "business days" of course.

Let me add the oft repeated warning...DO NOT make plans until the visa is IN YOUR HAND. There could be delays at the interview or after. If you do things like buy plane tickets you are risking your money, you may also find that many airlines will not even sell a ticket for a person unless you can enter their visa number or green card number

Two days may be a stretch, more like 4 days, they have to process the paperwork, then create the visa and attach it and then send out the passport. But yes delivery to the local Moscow or any Moscow suburban office is quickest, it your fiance lives many miles away, delivery could be a week or two.

Olya had her visa in hand 6 days after the interview. We had made airline reservations for 11 days after, everything worked out well! They have only ever asked for passport numbers for us, never wanted visa numbers for the reservations.

My wife had hers in less than a week and she was all the way in Vladivostok.

We'll be cutting it close. Natasha's interview is on Thursday morning, and we're leaving for Seoul the following Wednesday evening. If we can get it by Wednesday at noon, we'll still make it. So we're hopeful it won't be too white-knuckled.

Our timeline:

01/11/12 - Submitted I-130s to Moscow USCIS in person

01/12/12 - Had interview with Moscow USCIS officer to establish bonafide marriage

01/12/12 - I-130s approved and passed to US Consulate

01/13/12 - IV Unit in Moscow received approved petition

01/23/12 - We received confirmation that I-130s were approved by USCIS

01/24/12 - We received package notification from post office

01/26/12 - Picked up "package" - notifications from IV Unit with case numbers

01/26/12 - Set interview date online

02/01/12 - Passed medical exams

02/02/12 - Received police record

02/09/12 - Interview... APPROVED!

02/13/12 - Visa delivered

02/23/12 - POE Chicago

My visa was ready by COB the next day, so 2 days is quite possible. I had the interview on a Monday morning and on Tuesday at about 7 pm I received a text message saying "your passport is ready for pick up". So yeah, at least 2 days and onwards, and picking up at Pony Express is the fastest option.

That should be plenty of time as long as you're picking it up in Moscow.

Have fun in Seoul! That's one of my favorite cities on earth.

There's an outside chance but not much. I wouldn't count on it, even picking it up at the Moscow PE office that soon.

Have a Plan B just in case!

Yeah, I'm thinking so as well. The PE office is right around the corner from our flat too...

Yeah, I love it too! Can't wait to intro Natasha to live octopus, soju and Korean BBQ!

You should try the food. It's wonderful!

Actually I did once. It was this weird restaurant with gas pipes running everywhere. And every table had a gas cooking pit to cook your own food. Interesting but I prefer to just eat at the table...not cook there. I guess it was like the fondu style cooking.
