I have read a lot of post on here about a CFO seminar.

What is it and you do have to do it?

After our visa was approved the Embassy did not say anything about the need to attend a seminar or anything else

Is this only for couples who are already married or is this also needed for K-1?

If so where do we go how do we set it up and do we need to wait until she gets her passport back?

How long does it take and how much does it cost?

CFO = Commission On Filipinos Overseas

Yes it is required or your lovely fiancee will not be allowed to leave the country.

The registration fee = P650.00 and it takes a couple of hours of her time to complete.

Your fiancee will need to attend the seminar before or after she gets her visa.

If she attends the seminar before she is issued the fiance(e) visa she must return with her visa and get the

CFO sticker in her passport. If she waits until after the visa is issued, she can get the sticker once the seminar

is complete, no need to return to get the sticker.

CFO is not a U.S. requirement, its a Philippine government requirement. About a half day deal.

It is an extortion racket run by the Philippines, operating on the assumption that the little immigrant children need big daddy government to wipe their poopie butts for them. They're going to inform her of things like VAWA, which is available here for free and is also far more accurate and up-to-date.

Be sure and show the proper attitude to the bureaucrats empowered by this law: Thank you daddy dear, I would be lost without you. I am on my knees now for your precious sticker.

I don't know about exhortion racket, considering the fees that are charged. maybe more of a sideshow, so they can watch you jump through hoops to get the sticker. don't forget to know the answer to the secret question, the petitioner's mother's maiden name.

Well said...

I thought I was the only one to feel the Philippine (nanny-state) government was

a bunch of 'let me hold your hand and wipe your nose for you' types that crank out such nonsense as CFO.

More of the 'you're too stupid to take care of yourself' so we need to do it for you.' I guess they have some

of the best nanny-state clowns in the world to emulate when they look at the U.S.

We have VAWA to protect the women of the world from American men seeking a foreign mate, because 3 or 4 jerks decided

to "off" their foreign born wives.
