Do the I-751 Affidavits need to be notarized?

Hi, I'm confused about the Affidavits, do they need to be notarized or just need to be signed by the family or friends? Thanks

Affidavits should be notarized—and with a jurat, not just an acknowledgement. The example affidavit in the VisaJourney Example Forms library provides the correct format.

Technically an affidavit IS notarized. But in this case, you can forego it if you can't have it notarized at all.

I would say it is a personal preference, I asked the people who wrote the affidavits to have the letters notarized so it is up to you. I did it for the peace of mind...

I've seen them go in both ways. I'd say it can't hurt to get it done, but I know of people who were approved with non-notarized affidavits. Not that the affidavits were even critical in those cases, assuming there was enough other evidence.

I would say it's not entirely critical, but I'd get it done for peace of mind if it not difficult to do so.

No. It must be signed but its not a requirement to have it notarized.
