I became a LPR in 1986 through marriage, my husband passed away in 1989.

I remained in the US until 2007 when I returned to Canada to assist my older sister who was a recovering drug addict.

In 2008 my sister seems to be on track with her life and I applied for a job and had an interview set up in Berkeley, CA

2 weeks prior to my interview my sister became homeless and I cancelled my interview.

The rest of the year my sister would loose her housing again and her job on 2 different occasions.

In 2009 I again prepared to return to the US when my elderly aunt fell and broke her pelvis.

As I was her Power of Attorney and the only relative in the provence I became responsible for taking care of her affairs.

My aunt then suffered a series of strokes.

In 2010 I again prepared to return to the US ad in April became very ill, and remained very ill for 6 months.

In October 2010 my elderly aunt was found alive but in medical distress on the floor of her apartment.

The next few months were spent dealing with medical and social welfare professionals to determine where my aunt would live as she was diagnosed with dementia and could no longer live on her own.

In early 2011 my aunt was moved into assisted living and my cousin took over as Power of Attorney.

In February 2011 my sister died.

I then delayed any attempts to return as my elderly labrador retriever was in failing health and I didn't think he would survive the trip.

He died in december 2011.

I desperately want to return to California and from looking at posts here wonder if my chances are very good and if the history of the past few years is enough to satisfy the requirements for a SB-1.

Should I start with a DS-117 or go straight to filing an SB-1.

Any direction gladly welcome, thanks.
