Hi VJ'ers. I have my medical booked for a fortnights time in London and I was advised on the phone that it was the Basil St clinic and to use Map B. Also if anyone has any advice on (a) finding it and, (b) cheap hotels and/or accommodation near by it would be appreciated.

If there is anything good maybe Nich-Nick can use it in the bumper thread being worked on :)

Man, I haven't heard of anybody going to Basil Street in a long, long time. Look at the first post in the pinned thread about medicals. That person took photos on his walk to Basil St. that might help you.

When I phoned the lady who answered asked me when I wanted to come in and from dealing with the NHS it sorta stumped me :P I was expecting to be told a date. I was asked what day and given a choice of appointments. It sounded like I could have had my medical next week if I wanted but between medical leave, annual leave and paternity there would not have been enough staff to allow me to take the time off.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure she said Basil Street but I'm certain that she also said Map B so I'll be phoning again just to confirm which one it is :P

I can't wait to get the medical done but I know I have to do a bit of groundwork because last time I was in London was 20 something years ago as a child

I phoned at two minutes past 9 this morning and it is Bentinck Mansions so that should prevent me from arriving at the wrong clinic :P

How are you getting to London?

I booked my leave from work today. I'll fly in but I haven't decided if I'm doing the day before or arriving that morning. If I arrive that morning and leave in the afternoon that gives me roughly 2 hours to get from the airport to the clinic. Google maps will be getting a lot of abuse this weekend :P
