Thanks Lost at sea smile.png

One question about the questionnaire - where it asks for "Visa Appointment Date" - what goes there? the date of the medical?

"TBC"

You won't know it. Some other kinds of visas DO know it, so it's for those people. It's asking for your interview date.

TBC = To Be Confirmed. :) TBD basically means the same thing. Use which ever you prefer. Even "unknown" would be fine.

I'm finaaalllly sending off my DS2001 and Cover Letter tomorrow.

We don't plan on marrying until October, but I would like to get there ASAP as we are moving as soon as I arrive (he's been staying with friends waiting) and we want some time to get settled before we marry.

I was thinking about putting down a wedding date of 2nd Sept, in the hope of getting an August interview. How realistic is this?

And just to confirm again, doing so wouldn't backfire on me would it?

No. They don't want any evidence of your wedding date or travel plans. Even if they did - plans change! I believe Nich-Nick put a date a full month before her wedding date, too.

Have you read the embassy instruction pages, lists, and clicked all the links? There's a lot of info out there that answers many of your questions. My detailed word document is 8-9 pages. Problem is, people can't be bothered to read.

Or they did read it, but they missed something or didn't comprehend it the same way you did.

Have you posted this Word document? If so, I apologize, I can't find it.

It's no longer public.

Yes, not everybody comprehends instructions. I agree.

But sometimes you have to wonder if the information has been read when the website says

See "Contact and Mailing Address" on the right-hand side of the page. And people ask "where do I mail the DS-2001.

"Can I go to the medical the same day as my interview."

"Do I have to attend the medical four days before my interview?"

Embassy page: Please note: The visa interview will not be scheduled until the Immigrant Visa Unit is in receipt of the results of the medical examination.

So, no to the questions because you will never get an interview until the medical results are at the embassy. (Maybe that's down to reading comprehension since you have to make that thought process that there will be no interview unless I go to London prior to have a medical."

Note: We will not accept the short form version of a UK birth certificate. The certificate must list both parents' names "They wouldn't accept my birth certificate because my parents' names weren't on it." (Now that is failure to read carefully.)

And a lot of lore gets tossed around.

"You must call the NVC to find out this or that". No, you don't. It will all get sent in the mail in due time. That's not a real step in the process, but one for the impatient (which is mostly everybody :)) And people start thinking it is mandatory in order to get a visa.

"You must take your whole copy of the I-129 petition, and photo albums, and Skype logs to your interview." Nope, not to London. That's why I think it's best to look at what London website says, read every link, read your letter of instruction, then read it all again. I agree there are some odd things that contradict each other on their website. It is challenging.

Hey Guys! Really excited to be joining this forum for the next steps of our visa journey! So much useful information. My fiancé Ryan (in Scotland) has an immigration attorney to handle the rest of this on the UK side. Of course I'm the kind of person who likes to be in the know of what's going on with every little detail of this process as it's us that think about it all at night before we go to bed...not the attorney! Pretty sure the attorney may hate me by the end of this all lol

So I had a quick question if someone would be so kind to answer. Our case was sent to London July 17. I have been tracking it online and it has changed from "in transit" to "ready". I called the DOS to double check and they said that London has received the electronic copy of the case and it still waiting for the physical file. So can my fiancé go ahead and send in his documents now or should we wait until London has the physical file? He has a medical scheduled for August 9.

Thanks!

If you've got your medical scheduled already, then yep.. send away. So long as London has your case, you're good to send them in whenever you're ready. :)

So my congressman's office called to tell me that my case was sent to DOS. I told her I did know that and got the case number and I know it's in transit to London. I also told her we called for our medical and was told 8/2 was the earliest and they'd give my fiance a call if they get a cancellation. I said I think we have accepted we will miss our 8/9 date and she said "not necessarily..I'm going to call London and ask to see what they can do about getting an earlier medical and an interview". I am supposed to send her the case number, etc.

I'm a little concerned about this..is this going to piss them off? and what if they ask for proof - either the embassy or the congressman's office that our date is 8/9..I feel funny admitting this to her now that it was supposed to be so he could be on this vacation with my dad and the rest of my family..anyone have an advice either way? i could tell her my lawyer advised against it i suppose? yikes, i'm so not good at lying. :(

Just a quick query - Our CEAC updated tonight saying our file is Ready in London. As we'll have Packet 3 in the mail to us, can we send all of our forms off including form DS-2001 on Saturday even though we've not completed our medical yet? We intend to book a medical appointment in before Saturday and would include the date of the medical exam on the cover letter, but we're not sure if the medical has to be COMPLETE before sending off DS-2001.

AOS posted - 02/18/2014

NOA1 - 03/04/2014
Biometrics - 03/28/2014
EAD in post - 5/5/2014

EAD in hand - 5/10/2014

Send the first four forms as soon as they are ready. If you want to hold off on the DS-2001/cover letter, you may so you know the medical date to tell them.

What London probably "thinks"you are going to do in order:

--4 DS application forms

--Book medical date and gather documents

--say "I'm ready" with DS-2001/cover letter

--attend medical

What some people do

--Book medical date and gather documents

--4 DS application forms and say "I'm ready" with DS-2001/cover letter

----attend medical

Or

--Book medical date and gather documents

--attend medical

--4 DS application forms and say "I'm ready" with DS-2001/cover letter

Or

--4 DS application forms

--Book medical date and gather documents

--attend medical

--say "I'm ready" with DS-2001/cover letter

What I am trying to show is there is not a locked in order as long as all get done.
