I got 4 photos all the same, 1 I sent with the police certificate, 1 is for the medical and I have attached 2 to the DS 156, do you think I need another 2 additional photos? cheers

I believe the police cerificate requires UK size, and the medical takes either size, but you MUST have US passport size for the Embassy.

If you're not sure which you have,

UK passport size is 35mm x 45 mm

US passport size is 51mm x 51mm

Also, here's a link to the State Department specifications for US Passport photos http://travel.state.gov/passport/pptphotoreq/pptphotoreq_5333.html

And, here's the link to the UK specifications for UK Passport photos https://www.gov.uk/photos-for-passports

Hope that helps

Also, I wanted to add that I believe you don't need to attach the photos, but instead bring them with you to the interview. Hopefully someone who has been that far can confirm this part.

Cheers for your help. I ken the sizes of the photos I just got confused because I had attached it to the forms has it said attach picture here on the side of it. That's where I have gone wrong it looks like.

Okay, I'm putting together a detailed Word document with all of the items required, fees involved, where to get various things, etc.

But I'm struggling with the timeline.

This is what I have so far:

1) Around the time of NOA2, you can gather documents needed from petitioner (I-134 and supporting documents), get immunizations, and get police certificate.

2) After NOA2 is received:

Okay, I'm putting together a detailed Word document with all of the items required, fees involved, where to get various things, etc.

But I'm struggling with the timeline.

I understand that you can gather documents needed from petitioner (I-134 and supporting documents), get immunizations, and get police certificate around NOA2 to prepare. But it's after NOA2 that I'm getting lost.

I have the steps, I think, I just don't know what order they go in.

- Once you receive the NOA2, your file gets forwarded to NVC. After about two weeks, you can call NVC to get your LND# and check status - correct?

- The file is passed on from NVC to the Embassy - correct? At this point, does the Embassy let you know they have your file, or do you have to call to check this, as well?

- At what point do you send in the DS2001? Where is it sent?

- When do you provide the other DS documents from "packet 3"?

- At what point (besides after you get the police certificate) should you have your medical done - I saw something like at least four days prior to the interview, is this the only requirement? Is there such thing as having your medical too early?

- I believe the medical results are sent directly to the embassy and you aren't given anything to take with you to the interview - correct?

- Does anything else occur prior to the interview?

- Once the interview happens, how long does it take to get your visa and the mysterious envelope that doesn't get opened until POE?

Sorry, I know the answers are out there, and it's probably very simple, but I've been trying for days and I just can't wrap my head around it helpsmilie.gif

Have you read the embassy instruction pages, lists, and clicked all the links? There's a lot of info out there that answers many of your questions. My detailed word document is 8-9 pages. Problem is, people can't be bothered to read.

Okay we got our case number today so we are still going to try for 8/9 even though we know it's a long shot. So:

-Monday - first thing he will call London for his medical appt..will try to get one a week or so out.

-We are going to send all his forms when we think it's logged in London and try to time it with them getting the medical results a few days after the medical.

-We will beg on the cover letter for any cancellation interview slot and explain our wedding date is 8/9..we realize it's agressive but my dad is in failing health so we were trying to make sure he was there for the wedding.

I'm going to pray.. a lot. I'm sure I'll be back here to ask more questions - is it unheard of to think we could have his visa and flying out within 3 weeks - is this unheard of?

thanks to all so far who have been so helpful :)

You are looking at getting your medical done a week from Monday (or so) and that's at least July 29. Assuming it goes smoothly you are looking at 4 days minimum before the Embassy gets the results and can then start to look for a time slot for you. That would make it August 2. Then, let's say by some miracle they got you in the next day, that would be August 3. After that it takes another 4-5 days to get your passport back with the Visa. This puts you at August 7-9. Even if we call that the 7th, you'd have to book a flight (likely for the 8th) fly over and be ready for a wedding the next day.

I honestly don't see how all of these things can happen, but I do wish you the best of luck. It isn't going to hurt you to try, just don't get your hopes to high. I'll send some good thoughts your way.

Good points..we figured it was about a 2% chance but we needed to try. he was going to take the first medical he could, thinking they migh t have a cancellation but we were worried about the results getting there too early..i guess if we're sending the paperwork before packet 3 goes out,we may as well see if we can get a medical earlier if they had a cancellation slot..if we hadn't waited 3 weeks for TSC to send our case, we probably would have been okay..so frustrating but as my fiance says, can't stress about things we can't control...thanks UK-US. smile.png

Jeannie&Al, I hope you get your date. Just a thought, could you not put an earlier date on your letter? Perhaps you could send all forms in and ask them if they could schedule you an interview as soon as they get your medical results? Have you explained that your dad is very ill?

Hi Jeff and Emmy -

Thanks for your reply - that's a good question...since our case got held up at TSC for almost a month after NOA2 approval, we're thinking that sort of ruined our chances to make our date...I'm not sure it's logistically possible for them to do everything by then so I'm not sure putting an earlier date would help - they would probably put it aside and think these people ar nuts. sad.png

We were going to include that my dad is ill in our begging letter for the earliest interview possible and we'll see how it goes..London doesn't even have our case yet but should hopefully get it within a couple days...we're trying to decide today if it's even worth trying for it and risking getting our paperwork lost by sending it so early..

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/398602-form-iv18a-us-medical-questionnaire/

Possibly, but the proper place to acquire the medical PDF and questionnaire is from the embassy website here: http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/medical-examination.html

It's got the updated price list on it and what they want you to bring with you on the day (and the questionnaire to print - although they'll still make you complete a second one on the day with essentially the same questions).

It links to the pdf you want here: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/164203/cons-visa/iv018a_medical.pdf

In case you're trying to work out what would be in packet 3, then you'll be looking for this page on the embassy website. Packet 3 is basically just this URL + your LND number: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html
