So, I just got back home from my interview... Visa approved :D:dance:

Hated the interview though. Finally got called up to the first interview, the lady is just asking for forms, all good so far. She asks for the affidavit of support, so I mention about being co-sponsored (my fiancée and her mom) and the lady says that only my fiancée can be the co-sponsor.

"Wait, I thought I could have a co-sponsor since..."

"Only your fiancée can be your co-sponsor"

"wha... okay"

Thankfully, I had an affidavit of support for both my fiancée and my future mother in law! I give it to her, and at this point, she tells me to fill out the courier form and wait to be called for the 2nd interview. I'm sitting there, panicking, thinking what if they stopped co-sponsors. I was just hoping, praying, that when I had the 2nd interview, that whoever interviewed me would just say that they can take the co-sponsor.

Come up to the 2nd interview, the guy starts asking how we met. Queue long explanation, then asks about how we plan to support ourselves, I explain about how her mum will help support us, and that she filled out the co-sponsor form, but the "lady in the first interview said she wouldn't take it yet" I don't know why I said yet, I meant to say she wouldn't take it at all! The guy seemed fine, a bit confused, but said he'd take the form.

Queue more questions about our relationship, about her life, about her family, commented that we were both a bit young and asked how we knew the marriage was right, asked about what her mum does, which I knew her job title, but I didn't have a clue what she does on a day to day basis, and basically I said as much.

Ready to show tax returns for her mum, ready to show proof that it's permanent employment, ready to show skype logs if he wanted to see them (he was very curious about us meeting online). Didn't ask or anything. Just said that the visa was approved, and to go pay the courier.

Such a nerve-racking experience, but so happy at the end of it!

That would be scary to think you're all set and the document lady throws you a curve ball. Wonder why she said that? So did they have anything proving the sponsor's income or just the I -134? Does your fiancé have any income?

Congratulations for making it through.

Nothing proving the sponsors income. I had it all there to give, but they never asked for it, so just the I-134.

My fiancée had a little bit of income, but not much at all, and I have about £8000 saved up (which the 2nd guy interview asked about). The 2nd interview guy seemed happy with what her mum was earning though, and took her I-134. Surprised they didn't want the tax returns or anything though.

It's approved though, and that's all that really matters, so I'm happy.

Was just informed by the embassy that I should be waiting 7 weeks for my interview -- including 3 weeks to send out a letter once my paperwork has been processed, which should be "next week".

Is that a likely scenario, or am I being fed bs by a tier one drone? Can't seem to get a clear answer from anyone.

Did you call the embassy "extortion" number or the Dept. of State number? The latter will be able to tell you if/when your DS forms and medical exam results have been logged and when you're eligible for an interview. Honestly, I wouldn't bother with the embassy number unless it's to pay the visa fee or to get the email code to contact the embassy directly.

It was the extortion line; I kind of figured they were a bit useless, to be honest, though they've offered to give me an email code if I don't hear anything by next week.

My fiancee called the DoS line and got through to an incredibly gruff guy who only told us "we're not requesting any more paperwork" and wouldn't tell us what that meant.

Hey there, i'm in a similar position. I posted my packet 3 on 16th November and ad my medical on 23rd November. I was expecting an interview date in 3-4 weeks after that which seemed to be in line with the aveage waiting time then. I've been calling the department of state regularly since its cheaper for me but no date set yet. I called the extortion line about 2 weeks ago and the guy said that the processing time was 4-6 weeks and I should hear by the following week. But now its been 8 weeks and im getting impatient. So I called the extortion line gain today and he confirmed their system showed they had everything they need to scheule the appointment so he wasn't sure what the problem was. He gave me the email address and code and I sent an email direct to the visa section today. The auto reply says I shold have a response in around 3-4 days.

Again, you don't start counting until everything is in. That includes your medical results that may have arrived by Nov 27. You aren't at 6 weeks yet, the holidays slow everything down a bit too.

I just called DOS to see if there was any movement in my case, at first the lady seemed nice as I gave her my details, she told me they hadnt yet set a date for the interview, so I asked her the date in which they received all the paper work so that i could hopefully estimate a date, she then repeated that they haven't booked a date in a sligtly aggressive tone, I explained that I understand that but would like to know what date they received the paperwork, she then let out a sigh and hung up on me.

I would also like to add that I wasn't rude at any point and I was putting on my best phone voice haha

I guess she was just having a bad day.

We've had nothing but hassle calling the US govt. I've never experienced such rudeness from public servants.

Finally processed our paperwork yesterday. Just waiting on an interview date now.

Hey everyone.

So im back from my vacation in NZ and had an amazing time but now its time to focus on all this again!

I just called the DOS and an interview date hasnt been assigned yet but all my paperwork and medical has been logged. Whats the rough waiting time does anyone know? I asked for specific dates (if possible) but are these normally allowed??

Does anybody know at which point things would become urgent and would require contacting the embassy ?

I am getting married on the 22nd of February and everything is booked and paid for, also multiple guests have fully booked and paid for flights from England and Westcoast USA.

there is a lot tied up in this so I really can't miss it,and I still haven't had an interview date appointed !

should I give it a little more time or should I contact the embassy ?

If everything's logged, then you should -- on average -- receive an interview date within the next couple of weeks.

Call the extortion line, get a code, and email the embassy tout de suite. Tell them you'll take any date if there's a cancellation in the next two weeks. Many receive their passport, visa, envelope back from the embassy within five business days, but if yours takes longer, you're not going to make a 2/22 wedding date.

Did you put the wedding date on your cover letter? If not, that's why you haven't received an interview date. When were your DS forms and medical exam logged?

Good luck!
