I was approved today, and I am over the moon.

I'd like to say a massive 'thank you' to anyone that replied to my inane questions, and to everyone on this messageboard - it has been a god send and I honestly would have been lost without all the tips that are in these many pages.

Nich-Nick, thank you especially.

Now I am ready to start the next stage!

Congratulations :)

I answered here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/403781-tax-transcripts-i-134/page__view__findpost__p__5868093

Slightly different idea than LCL, but both are good ideas. Pick one and get on with Christmas merrymaking.instead of worrying.

I like both your idea and LCL's so I'm gonna mull them both over, pick one and get on with enjoying the holidays! You both have been such a big help.

I have a question, but didn't want to start a new thread - When I fly to America on my K1, do I need to buy travel insurance, or should my finacee add me to hers from the date of arrival?

Is there a separate thread/section with questions like this?

May 20th 2011 - Meet in Chicago through mutual friends.
May 28th 2011 - Start relationship.
Feb 26th 2012 - Engaged!

K-1 JOURNEY

Approved - Dec 12th 2012

POE - Jan 20th 2013 Chicago

On your second question, you will want to peruse the "Moving Here and Your New Life in America" forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/15-moving-here-and-your-new-life-in-america/

I purchased "Inbound Immigrant" insurance for my then-fiancé to cover the time he's traveling to when he's formally on my insurance. Most employee-sponsored insurance policies will only let you add after you're married, so be sure to check what's possible. You typically have 30 days following the "life event" (e.g. marriage) to make an update to the insurance policy, so depending on when you plan to marry, make sure the coverage is in place at least a month past that date.

So, my interview is on the 3rd on Jan.

Couple of questions. 1st, payment. Do you just ring up any time before your interview and pay, or do you get a letter through the post first, then call and pay?

2nd, bring to the interview all stuff they ask for passport/police certificate/visa photo etc, etc. Apart from them, is it just the copy of the previous package, the affidavit of support (with co-sponsor in my case), proof of (co)sponsors earning by way of tax returns/paystubs and proof of an on going relationship?

Is that everything?

You just need to provide the LND number, so you can call Friday and pay.

Be sure to read through this thread to get the checklist and read the recent reviews of approved K-1 visas. You don't have to bring a copy of the I-129F petition package. They already have that. My then-fiancé brought a few extra photos, etc. just in case, but was never asked for those during the interview. Do bring copies of the DS forms you mailed in, however.

Ok I said I wouldn't post again until AFTER my Christmas vacation and to stop panicking but I have one last question...sorry guys!

Can I send off all my documents ready for my interview and pay for my visa even though I haven't actually received "packet 3" yet. Since we were approved so quickly I got a bit ahead of myself and have everything to send off but I'm not even sure the consulate has received my case lol.

You can, it's been done, but I would check with NVC to ask the date it went to London. There have been times that files have been held up at NVC for 30 days instead of 3. NVC 603-334-0700

Then I would call DOS and ask if the case has been logged in at London. If so, mail away. If not I would wait until they confirm, or mail on your medical date since you are going away and want to get it in before your holiday. DOS 202-663-1225 press 1, then 0

I would pay after you get the interview appointment letter. Paying early doesn't speed up getting an interview. Just pay before the interview so you have the emailed receipt to present on the day.

Awesome, once again you have come to my rescue! I seriously cannot thank you enough! When I call NVC does that go straight through to someone who will tell me the day it was sent??

Yes, and depending on when it was sent, you can track it via DHL. Also, when you call the NVC, you'll need to give them your USCIS case number (EAC### or WAC###).

Well NVC received my case over a week ago now (8 days) and I'm lunch in 5 minutes so I will call the NVC and quote my EAC number and check if it has been sent to London and if it has then I will call DoS and see if it has been logged. If it has been logged then I'll send the forms, if not il send it all on the day of my medical. Thats my plan, lets hope it goes alright!

So, we got our interview date through today, for next Tuesday, 18th December.

Problem is we have a wedding planned for the 29th. Is there ANY way of getting the passport/visa back quicker than the quoted 5-10 days after interview at London?

I'd be happy to go and collect it from the embassy, collect it from the courier - anything at all..

With Christmas in the way, we only actually have 6 working days between the interview and the wedding - to miss out by a matter of a day or two would be soul-destroying!!

13th March 2012 - Petition Sent

15th March 2012 - NOA1 sent

20th March 2012 - NOA1 received

28th June 2012 - "Touched"

11th October 2012 - Received by NVC, Case # issued.

12th October 2012 - NVC sent case to London Embassy

15th October 2012 - Case received by London Embassy

7th November 2012 - Medical Exam

10th November 2012 - Packet 3 Sent

14th November 2012 - Packet 3 received by London Embassy

14th December 2012 - Interview Date Received

18th December 2012 - Interview - Approved pending updated Police Certificate

9th January 2013 - Updated Police Certificate & Passport sent to Embassy

At this point, I'd say you best bet is to PLEAD your case to the interviewer. I do mean beg, shed tears, grovel, whatever it takes. No composed British stiff upper lip stuff. Ask if he can do anything to push it through. Ask the courier if anything can be done, what days they are working, if your address would get next day delivery etc. And I would be at the embassy at 7AM to be first in line so you are the first I-number processed for the day...and first in the visa printing queue.

Many get them faster than the stated time and an early in the week appointment is a plus. You could have it by Friday or Monday if you are approved, not Muslim, and born in the UK.

Thanks Nich-Nick - I will take your advice and get there as early as possible. I had already planned on begging!

I just wish I could go and get it as soon as it's ready..

I'll also check with the courier (presumably that is done at the embassy when you pay the courier fee etc?).

Do you know if you can have the visa delivered to a different address than the one on your application?

You choose the delivery address when you fill out the courier form. It has nothing to do with what is on your visa forms. The embassy turns it over to the courier and the courier uses the info you give them to address it.

I recall one person who got to pick theirs up, but that was a case of an embassy error and they were trying to make it up to him/her because she had to catch a flight. I think they had made an actual error or typo on the visa and it had to be re-done at the last minute when the person noticed it.
