Hey everyone. Laura had her interview at the London embassy today and.... WE'RE APPROVED!  :D :D :D

We both really want to thank everyone on here... we each must have read through all 40+ pages of this forum several times each, and it was so helpful and calming for us.

We'll try to get a full review posted, but Laura's appointment was at 8AM (we think that must be the first group for the day) and the whole process there she said took only about 90 minutes from the time she entered the embassy.

For the I-134 the only evidence they took was my most recent IRS transcript (we had the past 3 years, plus banks statements prepared). They didn't ask for any additional evidence, but did look through the photos they already had on file from the I-129F petition -- which they then gave back. They also only asked a few simple questions (What do you do for a living? What are your ages? How long have you been together? How many times have you visited? Where do each of you live? Where did you get engaged?) and then gave her the good news!

Thanks again to everyone that's helped us out along the way. We'd love to pay back to the community, so while we're definitely still no experts on the subject we're happy to share any details on our experience thus far for anyone still going through the process.

Off now to book that plane ticket!

Hello everyone!!

Jus called DOS today and they've logged our case and sent off our 'Packet 3' on monday so tomorrow Paul is going to send off packet 3, we've got all the forms ready and filled out we just need to take copies and include the copies, the only question I have is: do you need to include some sort of cover letter or note with it or just the forms? Maybe your LND number? Basically does anything else go into the envelope besides the forms and the copies of the 2 forms?

Also I need to call NVC to update my timeline, I never called for our LND number/ to see when they got it then sent it because the day I was going to start calling I got a letter with our case number lol So I know my timeline doesn't look like we're at this point yet but we are! :D

Thank you so much!

And I thank you for doing that. If you study it all and think it through, you'll do a better job than those that grab for an answer here and there without grasping the whole overall picture of the process. Well done and congratulations!

do you need to include some sort of cover letter or note with it or just the forms? Maybe your LND number? Basically does anything else go into the envelope besides the forms and the copies of the 2 forms?

The DS-2001 readiness for interview form needs a cover letter. (Explained on London's instruction page) So if it's going with your four application forms, then do a cover letter.

If you are doing the four forms now, and DS-2001 later when you have all your documents, then cover letter is optional. It's a polite touch to correspondence but I imagine they don't actually care and toss it out if its just a list of whats included. If you do one, give the beneficiary's name, LND number and say Enclosed are the following forms for my K1 visa process---

  1. .

My personal tale of cover letters--I always included one and the earliest were the most detailed. Then after doing packets for I-129F> London> AOS/EAD/AP> Removing Conditions...the N-400 application for citizenship was just the forms and evidence with no frills or cover letter. I was pretty sick of immigration by that point. And it didn't matter because he's a citizen now, even without a cover letter.

I would agree.. I've been reading this forum (and a few others) for a few months now and what I see is the confusion of people that ask a quick question, take the answer, then come back with another question... and still don't understand.

In a process this beaurocratic, understanding of the whole process is really important I feel. Reading is both calming and enlightening. But then, like you, I'm a teacher (of English!) So I would say that! :D

Sorry guys but I need an answer to a question I could have sworn I have already asked, and have spent the last hour looking for it, I've looked in my content, I've searched for my name, I've searched for my question or anything similar (of course lol) and just can't find it!!

I feel like I've asked/I'm asking now:

for form DS-156 I don't know what to put for question 24 - I'm staying with friends right now and Paul and I are planning on renting our own place once he's out here so the address I'm at won't be where he's staying in the US, well for not longer than a week or two, and by the time he comes out we might already have a place rented if the right one comes along, so I guess my question is what should I put in my current situation and can I change it once hes out here/ what if at the interview they ask him where hes staying and it's already changed? Any advice?

Sorry I really feel / would swear that i've asked this before but I just can't find it so I'm sorry to be repetitive

Thank you so much!!

I remembered answering somebody but thought it was over in I-129F petition forum. So I searched on my user name. Kinda hard because I was grasping for what keyword to search on. Interview? Address? Both pretty general.

Hey everyone

Paul received 2 letters today, one dated October 2nd and the other dated October 3rd -The first one (oct 2nd) basically says hey we got your approved petition but we havent' heard form you, you have 60 days to respond to this letter and tell us if you are still continuing the K-1 or not. The second one (oct 3rd) is our 'packet 3' (which we sent off all the forms for yesterday because I called DOS and they said london logged it). They are both from the same address.

Is this normal? Do we need to respond? Are our 'packet 3' forms a response?

Thanks for your help!

Your forms are your response. Sounds like something glitchy going on. Here's one who got the "we haven't heard from you" letter too without getting the instruction letter. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/391974-noa-2-uk-usa-what-happens-now/page__p__5730930__fromsearch__1#entry5730930

I have heard of that other letter going out well after the instructions when no forms or medical came in and the petition approval was about to expire. Kinda of a reminder to people who don't apply for months after eligible.
