I read that we should have a notarized and updated statement of intent to marry. Has anyone experienced that the intent to marry statement needs to be notarized?

Any feedback is appreciated!!!

In the first letter that you receive from the embassy (just got mine this afternoon) It states that you only need to do this if your application validity time expires. Mine says it's valid for 4 months from the letter date.(I had previously heard 6 but maybe they have changed the date to try speed things up? I can't imagine why anyone would delay the process but it can be tedious filling out all the forms & compiling the documents you need with evidence, & if you have very little spare time, it could take a few months I suppose) Anyway basically if you don't do anything for the 4 months stated in the letter & they don't hear from you, then you need to prove that you're still in a relationship with your fiance & you're still committed to pursuing the application. The letter of intent is not on the list of required documents for the interview on the embassy's website, but other consulates in other regions have asked for it.

If you read Stu4Lee thread about being asked for more evidence at his interview yesterday though, then I think there's no harm getting a letter & I am taking one to my interview in case. It won't be notarized though. Good luck

Question for fellow petitioners...has anyone changed jobs during this process? There's a possibility (crosses fingers, toes, and eyes) that I may be changing jobs within the next month or so, which may coincide to when my fiancé has his interview.

On Friday, I'm sending him the I-134 and supporting information (paystubs, verification letter) based on my current position since I will likely be at this job through the end of the month into early September. If I were to start a new position before his interview occurs, I should plan on FedEx-ing him a new I-134 and info, correct?

My fiance got a promotion to a full time position and is now a manager at Sephora. She used to just be a sales assistant which is what it says on the forms. We are just putting an additional sheet on the i134 which will state she has a new job role, and on her letter from employer which states her salary it will say when she started in the role.

with your timeframe that is tricky though. i can't see why its a problem as long as he is still earning. congrats on the new job hope it put you both in a better position to start your life together.

So I just received my LND number by calling the NVC and my fiancé plans to call to book the medical appointment tomorrow, but I have a few questions about the police certificate:

1) According to the police certificate website, they have now posted a new form and pricing scheme which increases the price by 10 pounds http://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx

The website also says that the old forms will still be accepted until August 31st. My fiancé has already filled out the old form and is planning on mailing it tomorrow. Does my previous information mean that she can still pay the lower price (before increase)?

2)We are a bit antsy about her moving to the US in October and want to speed things along. Does it make sense to pay for an expedited police certificate (2 days instead of 10 days processing time) to have it ready if she can book the medical appointment sometime in the next few weeks?

Thank you all for your help!

It sounds like they are giving a transition period for the new fees, so I interpret it that she can use the old form, especially since the first day of transition was yesterday. I think it's your call if the expedited processing is worth the money to you. How antsy are you? 35-42 pounds worth? Have you read the first post in this thread to see what else needs to be done ASAP? Does she have her immunizations? Will that take longer to sort than getting the police certificate regular processing? She can call and make the visa medical appointment now if she wants to as long as you allow time to get the police certificate and immunization documentation in hand before she goes. They usually have appointments open without a long wait....like this week if she had already prepared.

Just received notification that London have got my documents, very excited!

I have started filling out the Packet 3 paper work and have come across a few points i would appreciate some help with.

Question 1, On the 156 there is a space for a photo on the first page, do i enter a photo myself or does this happen on the day? also is it an American passport photo or British?

Question 2, At the end of the 156 you have the EVAF 03.00.00, Do i touch anything on this? i have not seen this mentioned anywhere before.

Thank you as always!

1. American. Don't attach anything to or with forms. Take two passport photos to interview.

2. That's the barcode page that is generated from the answers filled in. You don't write on that page, but also don't generate it until the online form is perfect. If you have to change anything, then generate a new barcode page because the barcode captures your answers.

Thanks for the reply. Just to follow up, my fiance called the medical office this morning and they told her they have lots of openings and you can make an appointment as soon as the next day. So we decided to expedite the police certificate and schedule the medical as soon as she has it in hand. Luckily I told her to get her immunzations last month. I guess I didn't expect the case to get an NVC number so soon after the NOA2 since it seems many people are delayed on that step recently.

One more question to anyone that can help. Is there another payment i need to make a long with the Packet 3, or is the next payment just at the embassy?

If there is a payment is it to be paid before i send packet 3 or any time before the interview?

Ouuuuch!

Glad to see it only gets more expensive.

With your help Nick i think I'm just about there.

Get back from Iraq for some leave at the start of September. Post the Packet 3 on the first day of leave, medical booked for the 12th and i will send my cover letter and DS2001 away after the medical. I will request an interview for the end of November as i go back to Iraq the 1st October. Then my next leave is November 26th and when i finish my time out there!

Hopefully they can accommodate me. Then if all goes to plan i will get married in Portland Oregon on Jan 4th, it has been a very long 4 years!

$1070?? What exactly are we paying for? Being allowed to stay in the country where we can't work or drive whilst we're waiting for a green card :/
