went to download the police form today and it says

"ACRO are introducing a new version of the Police Certificate application form on 6th August 2012 in support of a revised pricing structure. The application form will be available to download via the links below, and hard copies will be available on request from the Customer Services team at ACRO.

As a result of this change, ACRO will only be able to accept the new version of the application form (Version 18 August 2012) from 31st August 2012. After this time, all previous versions will be rejected and ACRO will require a new form to be submitted before an application can be processed."

I won't be having my interview until September...does this mean I need a new certificate.

The certificate itself is valid for one year. If you already have it, I would think no unless the London embassy change their requirements. This looks more like it's ONLY the application form that's changing.

If you have one already, it's good for a year. If you order a new one before Aug 31, the same old order form can be used. if you order after Aug 31 there is a new order form people must use.

It's just warning people in advance they are changing the form and fees. Good info. Thanks for posting the new change.

Read the sentence carefully

ACRO are introducing a new version of the Police Certificate application form ....

It doesn't say a new version of the police certificate.

No, it's the application form that is changing, not the certificate.

Since nobody is replying, I'll take a stab at yours just to give an opinion. Keep in mind I have not paid much attention to actual K2 kids. It's mostly how I would interpret a form that fits many visas as it sorta applies to a 4 year old.

Thanks for looking over and giving your opinion :)

I had to pay a visa fee for my son for the visitors visa, so I assume he applied too and was denied.

I've just printed out the DS-156 and put for question 31 I was denied a vistors visa.

On the last page it says 31. Additional Visa refusals:None. Is that because there was only one refusal?

Sorry I have another question for my sons form,

I was living in Tenerife, Spain, when I applied for his British passport. Inside it say, code- GBR, Authority-FCO. Which I think means foreign consulate.

What do I put in the boxes in question 2? Would UK overseas consulate be ok?

Thanks for any help. :)

Hello everyone!

This thread is such a wonderful resource!! It has answered so many questions!

I'd like to clarify the steps though if that's okay :)

You prepare all your forms (DS-230-Part 1, DS-156, DS-157, and DS-156K) ahead of time along with gathering all the required documents (passport, birth certs, police cert, ect) and getting the DS-2001 Readiness and Cover Letter ready.

So when you get your NOA2 you can then book your medical appointment, put the medical date in the Cover Letter, then send all that off (forms DS-230-Part 1, DS-156, DS-157, and DS-156K, DS-2001 and Cover Letter)

Then attend your medical

Pay your visa fees

Then you'll get your Appointment Letter

And when you attend your appointment letter bring your MRV fee receipt.

Is that all in a correct order? am I missing something?

(at one point I thought you prepare all your forms send them off then book and attend your medical THEN send off your DS-2001 and Cover Letter then get your appointment letter then pay your visa fees, maybe this is correct, I'm not sure so I'm asking :) lol)

Thank you SO much for your help!

Louise

i think it comes down to personal choice, either way will get you to the end zone! packet 3 from the embassy directs you to this page http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html, which does put ds-2001 in step two (assuming you have all the docs), and booking medical at step 3... but a lot of us booked our medical as soon as we got that coveted LND case number, so we all mess with the natural order of things a little bit and hope to get there in the end!

So you can book your medical sooner? I wasn't sure if the results would be sent to the embassy with nothing else there so they'd just discard it.

(is the LND case number the case number you get in your NOA1?)

again, there's no magic answer. people can and do book their medical as soon as they have their case number. other people wait. this is usually advised, at least until you know file has left nvc. the link i sent you in previous post is THE guide from the embassy. everything anyone writes on here is just interpreting that info their own way, either from personal experience or just by making a judgement call! you are free to do the same when the time comes :) (but for the record, most of us end up falling in line with nich-nick eventually! read through all 20 pages of this thread and you'll find some pricelessly detailed advice).

LND number is only assigned once the nvc has the case, post-noa2. it is NOT on noa1.

good luck!

Oh okay good to know about the LND number lol

Yes this thread is amazing! I've read every single post, and above nich-nick, and others said about getting all 4 forms ready then when you get your NOA2 send them off and when you have your medical booked then send off your DS-2001 and cover letter, I was just seeing which order was better, to try and send the 4 forms and the DS-2001 and CV all in one go or do it in two steps. :)

I did look at that link form when nich-nick posted it in a early post in the thread and that's what made me wonder about the order because they had the booking of the medical in step three but step two could only be completed if the medical was already booked lol so I was just checking I was reading it all right :)

Thank you for your help!! :D

So when you get your NOA2 you can then book your medical appointment, put the medical date in the Cover Letter, then send all that off (forms DS-230-Part 1, DS-156, DS-157, and DS-156K, DS-2001 and Cover Letter)

Your NOA2 does not mean you can book the medical. USCIS has to hand off your case to the Dept of State at the NVC. There you get a new DOS case number LNDxxxxxxxx. Knightsbridge doctors normally ask if you have that number and your police certificate mainly so they know you aren't randomly booking too early. So should you make the medical appointment for the following week, even if the embassy doesn't even have your file yet? Well that is kinda messing with the order. London would have a medical with no approved petition from NVC or your visa application forms if you attend too soon. Will all the pieces find their way to the right place or will a piece be overlooked? So it's your choice to follow what London had in mind or mess with it a little.

Forms DS-230-Part 1, DS-156, DS-157, and DS-156K, DS-2001 and Cover Letter: can all go in the same mailing. Or DS-2001/cover letter can go separate if you need more time to get documents gathered. Some people noticed those with DS-2001 arriving as the last thing or about the same day as the medical results seemed to get an interview response faster. That has never been more than a hunch. Also the date you put for your planned wedding date can affect the interview assignment. If Miss A put August 15 and Miss B put December 15, they would tend to try to get Miss A in first, even if they were identical getting everything else in on the same date.

Pay your visa fees

Then you'll get your Appointment Letter

You can pay at any time as long as it's before the interview. You can wait until after the appointment is assigned. Paying earlier does not get you a gold star or a quicker interview. They don't check to see when/if you paid before they hand out an interview. Pay when it's convenient to you.

Edit after I read the last posts written while I was answering---Kitty is right. we all use our interpretation of what the website says. Now I know 4 years of website changes and none are perfect. I've written them about inconsistancies this version has and things people stumble over because of it. Of course no response. I certainly don't have all the answers, but maybe a longer history of what happens there that people report.
