Hi all,

I am putting together everything I need to send to the London Embassy. One problem we have been contending with is that my fiancee (US citizen) is currently interning and isn't earning enough to complete a I-134 for me. However her mum is a Chinese citizen working in New York for the UN on a G-4 visa. She can therefore act as more sponsor for the K-1 visa (although we are aware we need to have a US citizen or permanent resident file the affidavit of support for the AoS). The problem we have now is that in this document we had mailed out to us (

However she does not pay income tax, because she lives in the US on a diplomatic visa, and so such a report cannot be produced. Is there another document she can submit with the I-134? If no one knows is there a number I can call or a document somewhere that explains this?

I think that document is referring to the I-864 which the immigrant visas must fill out. They try to cover many things with one form and sometimes the K1 part gets not fully covered. They have approved I-134s without a tax return.

Got off the phone with both Department of State and NVC today. They told me that it has been taking now around 8 weeks for NVC to receive petitions from service centers. But DOS wouldn't confirm if that was for Texas, Vermont, and California or just one or the other etc etc.

Still, I'll wait. As long as needed. Part of life.

Thanks, Nich-Nick! What then should I take in terms of an affidavit of support, given my G-4 sponsor? The interview checklist just lists the form (the I-134 in this case) and the U.S. federal income tax returns. If I can't get the tax returns should I just take the I-134 to the interview?

Happy to report NVC received our case on 2 Dec, and we have the LND case number. Should we schedule the medical now to save time? Do we need to wait until my fiancé gets the letter from the embassy and do the ds-260 first? When is the best time to do it? Thank you!

DS-160, I assume you mean? http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

You could get the medical scheduled (usually 2 weeks out for appointments). Medicals take 4 working days to arrive, so you want to be sure that'll arrive after London knows about you. You can watch CEAC and see when the case has been set to Ready, and then submit forms. You're about to hit the raft of Christmas and NY's holidays, so expect some slow-down at the embassy.

We are so excited that our case only spent 2 days at NVC and is now "in transit."

Almost time to face the music.. interview in 2 days and everything is now in and logged at the Embassy (including my medical results once they got the fax from Spire Southampton on my Bariatric Surgery). Only the MRV Fee and the Courier Fee left to pay and that'll happen on Monday which is cutting it a wee bit fine.

But still, no panicking. That'll be Monday and Tuesday morning when I get the train at 5am.

I then called the NVC and also received my Invoice ID Number and Beneficiary ID number. The NVC was a bit more helpful at this stage with information. I was also told that my application had shipped to London today.

The CEAC tracking says "In transit". Can anyone tell me how I will know the embassy has the case, and when can we submit the DS 160?

You could do the DS-160 now you have the LND number. You'll know the Embassy has the case logged when your status goes back to "Ready", and you'll know the Embassy is definately aware of you when you get Packet 3 (basically the instruction letter and checklist) through the mail.

Thought you were going through Italy because of the flag on your profile! We are going through London also. It took about six days once NVC sent it for London to log it and CEAC status changed to READY. You can definitely do the DS-160 and you can also schedule the medical with your LND case number; then you can do the Applicant Readiness Form once you have your confirmation numbers from the DS-160 and your medical appointment date, assuming you have all the other documents you need.

My pleasure. That's interesting to know you can go through the London embassy if you are not British. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I wasn't trying to tell you to change the flag...LOL.
