Noel Fielding was there for an interview too haha. Well, him and his posse. They were in and out very quick and got to go up together (they were all getting visas).

Amazing! Love that guy.

Hi again everyone. My British fiancée still hasn't heard anything from anyone regarding her K1 visa application.

She had medical in London on September 18th and she mailed packet 3 forms to U.S. Embassy on September 13th. Was it correct for her to include form DS-2001, readiness form with the rest of her packet 3 forms? I hope this doesn't slow the process down.

We tried calling and emailing embassy but can only speak to someone who seems like an operator that doesn't offer any info at all. Nobody has replied to the email form on website either.

Can anyone please verify wait time or time frame until she will get a visa interview date and time? This is clearly very stressful for many people including us. Thanks again.

Hello

Yes you can send the 2001 readiness with the forms. It won't delay anything.

Currently it is about a 5-6 weeks waiting time from when they received your forms. Mine took about 5 weeks before a interview date. Have a look at my timeline it may help give you an idea. If you have any concern call dos they should be able to verify that your forms were received and they are just waiting to assign a interview date. Don't worry it is a bit of a wait once they get packet 3.

Thank you for the good information Nurseling. Do you happen to know the dos phone number? The number I called here in U.S. (603-334-0700) tells me they can't provide me with info about the U.S. Embassy London or if it received packet 3 forms.

The NVC is 603-334-0700 Portsmouth, New Hampshire. They know:

If case was received from USCIS

If case has been forwarded to the consulate

The new case number that they assigned (LNDXXXXXXX for London)

The Dept of State DOS is 202-485-7600 Washington, DC. They know:

If your file was received in London and logged (entered) into the computer

If the instruction letter was mailed (pkt 3)

Any notes London has made like medical received, forms received.

The interview date once it has been assigned

If the visa was printed.

Just a note, DoS was unable to give me specifics on what forms had been logged. They were just able to tell me that the paperwork either hadn't been starting logging and/or wasn't done. The amount of details I received were sparse the few times I've called, but I mostly want to make sure we don't get surprised (like others have!) with an appointment date just shortly after the letter arrives. He can make it work, but we want to be polite to his employer :)

Hi Wheatley,

My fiancee received her packet 3 dated August 30th, 2013.

I see the new interview document checklist you posted, thank you. As far as we're aware, DS-160/DS-260 are NOT required if we received packet 3 letter dated prior to September 1, 2013. Is this correct? As a precaution my fiancee completed DS-260 online through CEAC website. Is this going to hinder or delay her file or processing time?

At this point she's waiting to be notified of her interview date and time. I'm very confused by this DS-160 and DS-260.

Thanks again.

Based on what the DOS site says about it all (where if you have already submitted the old paper forms) you should be fine and not need either of the two online forms, But I would have her fill out and print DS-160 as a precaution just in case. DS-260 is completely defunct for K1's.

Thank you for that information.

The only thing that confuses me about DS-160 is that it's considered to be used with a non immigrant visa. Isn't K1 (what my fiancee is filing for) an immigrant visa? Therefore, is the DS-160 form absolutely necessary?

Thanks again.

Thing is with the K1 it's kind of the ####### child of family-based visas. In an odd sort of way it's both - the DOS on their site classes it as non-immigrant whereas the embassies class it as immigrant. No-one really knows what to classify it as. But if London asks for a form or changes their procedures like they have this time, we basically respond by offering the form en masse (kind of like "Jump!" - "How high?"). So in other words, it's necessary.

As I said though, in your case you're exempt as you sent in all the old paper forms way back before even the change to DS-260 but I would play it safe and have one to hand just in case it gets asked for.

"What's yours is mine!"
