Hi all,

Can anyone give me reassurance with a similar situation please, our case number was ready on Aug 18th, so I sent all my DS documents and cover letter special delivery on Aug 20th, they were signed for Aug 21st.

My medical was 31st Aug, and I received my 'packet three letter' later than expected on Sept 6th.

I called DOS just to see if they have logged my medical records and forms, the gentleman told me my medical records have been logged, but not my DS forms.

As they've been with the embassy for 3 weeks now, and not showing on the DOS system, should I be worried?

I emailed London yesterday and as advised have to wait up to 5 days for a reply.

It's so disheartening waiting for the very last hurdle.

It can take aprox 4 weeks for the embassy to register Ds forms,or so the embassy say.although it's been five weeks for me and I'm still waiting.but to answer your question your still within the time frame so no need to worry

Just a heads up though the embassy may not reply to u as it states on the website they Will not reply to any emails if the answer can be found on the web page. Just thought I'd warn you so you don't worry if you don't hear from them

Minor update regarding DS-260 for K1's:

From September 1, 2013 the DS-230I & II is replaced by the form DS-260. If you received your instruction letter after September 1 2013, you should complete forms DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, DS-2001 and DS-260. The DS-260 form is completed online via the Department of State's website - https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx

Now, according to posts in other threads K Visa applicants *can* get their NVC Invoice number from the NVC either by emailing them or when ringing them. So when you start ringing them to find out your case number you also need to be asking for your NVC Invoice number. So yes, we K1's (if we get Packet 3 after Sept 1st) are now subject to this as well. When filling out DS-260 and it asks about your relationship, there's no option to select Fiance(e), so the closest thing you can pick is "Spouse". Note that also originally we were told that DS-260 would also replace DS-2001 (the form you send to say "I'm ready for interview"). This is false, you still have to send that plus the other forms asked for as before, including the duplicates where asked for.

If you're on the DCF (Direct Consular Filing) route and therefore have had no contact with the NVC, you need to follow Lost's instructions at the top of the forum instead.

(Note/Disclaimer: I have NOT been through the DS-260 process yet myself because I'm still waiting on my NOA2 and all. The information above is based on input from other experienced users as well as the embassy website. Your mileage may vary and this is subject to change as time goes on.)

So just to confirm since my fiance has his interview next week and got his interview letter on the 4th of August he does not have to fill it out, right?

When I go to https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx there is an option he can do to fill it out the DS-260..

of course this me over thinking before his interview next week lol

I've bolded the important part. He got his interview letter on the 4th August, which is before the 1st September. Therefore he doesn't need to fill out DS-260. That said, it's when you got your Packet 3 (the initial instructions) that matters. So still safe and no DS-260 required in this case.

Few quick questions...my fiancé sent off all of his DS forms and DS-2001 on August 29. They were logged on September 6. How long can we expect to wait to hear of an appointment date being issued. We did state on our cover letter that we would be willing to take a cancelation and our desired arrival date was October 1 in the US.

We were planning on a mid October wedding, but we are pushing it back to November now that it's cutting it so close. However, I'm a teacher and we have a weeks fall break mid October that we would desperately like to share as a family while me and the kids are off work and school. Only 4 weeks away...think there's a chance of us making it?

I can't say with certainty obviously, but your expectations seem too optimistic. For reference, everything was logged for us at the end of July, we didn't get our letter with our date until August 23rd, and our date isn't until September 19th.

I am the USC/petitioner.

Doubtful, all mys stuff, forms and medical were sent Aug 7th, logged by Aug 15th, my interview appt letter was dated 23rd Aug for Sept 23rd interview. I told them in my cover letter, sent 6th Aug, that we wanted a 12 Sept wedding and that made no difference. By that token you may well make a mid Oct interview, that said it does not always follow, people seem to be out of sequence so you never know.

Thanks guys I appreciate your thoughts on it. Hoping for the best but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens with it. Can't believe we applied for this back at the start of December and we're still in the process. We were part of the horrid Texas transfer with the USCIS so that put a bit of a delay on the whole process. But at least we're in the last part of it! Good luck to you all and thanks again smile.png

Quick question regarding the DS-260. Must it be completed by the applicant or the petitioner? I'm assuming it's my fiancee in the UK.

Thanks!

So I know that this is a little way off, but I'm having a hard time trying to find the answers on this forum or on Google so thought this would be the best place to ask!

LDN#...will I HAVE to call the NVC to get this? I'd rather not and just wait for a letter/email containing the LDN# but can't seem to figure out if such a thing exists as most people (understandably!) seem to phone up the NVC and get their case number to keep things moving.

I think once I have the answer to that I'll have the post-NOA2 process pretty much figured out. Unless, of course, something else changes along the way :P

You are not required to call anybody in this process unless your case gets so messed up that you need help.**

NVC issues a letter to the petitioner that says they have forwarded the approved petition to London. It has the case number.

London issues a letter to the beneficiary saying they have the file and are ready for the beneficiary to apply for a visa. It has the case number.

**the fine print--For about a week now the embassy in London has given instruction to switchover to the electronic form DS-260 and provided a link to it. If you try to use it, it will ask for your case number and invoice ID number. The invoice ID number is something new for K1s and at this time is not routinely sent to them. The workaround that some have posted is ask NVC by phone for the number and they will provide it. So yes, at this time it appears the system is flawed and you may have to call NVC for your Invoice ID number.

Edit: Forgot to add. The embassy has posted on the immigrant visa instruction page that instead of an invoice ID number, the applicant should use their date of birth (YYYYMMDD). I don't know if any K1s have tried that, but I would give it a go if I were at this point and could try it. Any takers? I would suggest it might work only if London has actually received your case and sent notification. Not sure if it will work for the early birds who do it before time or not. Time will tell.
