Just wondering if anyone can help me.

I have my interview at 8.30am in the morning and I checked the coach timetable and the earliest I can get to London Victoria is 7.20am, Im worried I'll be rushing if I got there at 7.20am. Does anyone know if there are any cheap hotels near by?

Thanks

Your appointment time means nothing if that is your worry. 10:00 people will queue up at 7:00 and be seen before you. If you arrive at 9:00, you'll still be seen and the outside line should be shorter. So it's first come first served.

Also, you may not have to go to Victoria. Many coaches have a stop coming in on Baker Street before they get to Victoria. You can get off there and walk. Check your coach route. The stops should be posted.

We also stayed at Lincoln House and negotiated down the rate when we called. They kept our luggage after checkout, which meant no stop at Gould's. We went back to collect our phones then spent the rest of the day being tourists. Collected our luggage late in the day and caught the coach just down the street. Gloucester Place is the way out of London for many coaches (partner to Baker St coming in as mentioned above).

Here's my custom map. You can move it, zoom in and out to see bus's stops and Tube stations, but it's better on a PC than mobile device. Embassy, Gould's, hotels marked. http://www.click2map.com/maps/nichnick/Embassy_London

Any cheap hotel in London is do-able. Just get on the tube from most places in London and go to Bond Street station on the Central Line. We stayed at the Travelodge in Waterloo and got on the tube to Bond Street, then walked to Grosvenor Square from there.

Hi Nich-Nick

I wonder if you might have a answer for me on this question since the information in my packet 3 received today was very vague. Plus I asked dos and they just referred me back to ask the embassy.

The letter said fill out all DS forms and including checklist which I have already done. It doesn't say anything about my 18 year old filling out forms. On the site it says all member travelling must fill out all DS forms. Yes she is travelling later not now so I would assume it is not needed just yet right?

Plus would she need to attend interview with me even though she is not going right now or would that be scheduled for later when she is ready to go? They really don't indicate on the letter what needs to be done. Since she requires a police check and a medical done closer to the date she will be coming I would imagine she wouldn't need to accompany me to the interview. Just not too sure and well tried calling UK embassy with no luck call center has no clue.

Any feedback is appreciated or if anyone's had the same situation and able to tell me what they did.

If she is going to do the follow to join, then I am pretty sure she does her forms later when she is ready. I know she does medical and interview later, just not sure about the forms since she is derivative of your visa. Maybe prepare a set for her to take to the interview and ask your interviewer (second time called up to a window). If they say the forms are needed in conjunction with your visa, then you have them to turn in. If not, then you can ask him to outline the procedure and the timing....does the interview have to happen within one year of your interview, visa issue date, or what. Also, what if it takes the embassy 7-8 weeks to dish out an interview like some have experienced and it goes over. Don't be afraid to ask all the questions you have. You won't have a better chance to get i formation than that time with an interviewer. Write them down so you won't forget in your nervousness.

Thank you so much for the reply. Your right I will prepare a list of questions for them. I will also bring her along to the interview just incase. Furthermore I will get all the forms ready to hand for her just incase that is need too., with exception of the police report and medical no point to obtain it now.

It's a pity we got to wait till the last moments before we can get answers from them but hey like you said its better to prepare things before hand then ask questions once there.

Appreciate the help thanks :)

Wondering about the Packet 3 you've read about for months in the K1 forum????

There is no "packet". That's old talk. Your instructions and forms are posted on the London website. You can start working on the forms at any time. London will send a letter to the UK beneficiary when they have received your file and are ready for you to apply for the visa. That letter will tell you to go to the website.

Here's where you start Instructions for Immigrant Visa (K) Applicants Applying for a Visa in London.

The forms are on the right. If you filled them in early, then you can post them off to London the day you get the letter. Don't send them before London has your case.

Here's the basics of what London needs to get before they assign an interview:

  • Visa application forms sent in by you to get in the queue. Only forms. No passport photos or documents like birth certificate, police certificate, etc.
    • Form DS-230 Part I and Part II
    • Form DS-156 (2 copies)
    • Form DS-157 (2 copies)
    • Form DS-156-K (Do not sign it. You will sign at the interview while the officer witnesses. It's an oath)
  • Medical results. They arrive at the embassy by courier 3-4 days after your medical exam.
  • Form DS-2001 Readiness for Interview with a cover letter- This is your way of saying you have gathered every document needed for the interview including the I-134 from your fiance. They are in your hands---not on the way.

Read the instructions on the website for what documents you need for the interview. It also tells about what info to include with the DS-2001 in the form of a cover letter. There are links in a list on the left side to learn about the medical, visa fees, courier, interview, FAQ. Sometimes the right side of pages give links "for more information". Click those too. There is a lot of information to learn if you will click links and read it all. Don't depend on a forum to give you all the info. We might leave something out. Best to study the source, then ask questions about things that don't make sense.

Hey john and Jeanie

I see u guys just got your noa2 last week (congrats!) You'll know when London want u to send the forms because they'll send you a letter saying so (packet 3).

Generally you'll have another couple of weeks from noa2 till packet 3 for that to come. At the moment you should be preparing for your medical exam. Have your police cert sorted? Got the vaccinations all up to date? I would also look over the questionnaire they give u at the medical to see if you answer Yes to any questions. You can find that questionnaire on the London embassy website under the k1 "medical" section.

Your petition is probably right now on route to the National Visa Centre and they will have a case number for you soon which you'll.need to book your medical.

In regards to packet 3 those DS forms are all sent via post. You do need duplicates.of a couple of em which u will take to the interview. Hope this helps

Hold on a minute. So the forms that they ask '2 x blah blah'... I only send one and keep one? Or do I send both... Cz I sent both lol
