Can anyone advise me, on the electronic form DS 156 Question 17 I ticked divorced in the next question it asks for Spouses full name (even if divorced) do I fill this in with my ex husband details?

Anne

If it says to fill it out even if divorced then I would assume so. I'm not really sure but quoting this because we're onto the next page of conversation so I wanted to bump it in case anyone else can help.

LAURA CLAIRE THAT IS SO EXCITING!!! What happened?! Did they forget about you somehow? I'm so glad they got back to you so quickly, and that your interview is so soon now! WOW.

Everyone else talking about love and marriage and all that jazz... y'all are adorable :)

I'm seeing my fiance in 22 sleeps! (we don't count days, we count sleeps) He's a musician in a band, and I go on tour with them when they're over here in the UK. So I'm joining them on a tour from September to mid October, and then - assuming no delays for my interview and visa - I'll be flying over there about the 18th of October. So basically I'm counting 22 sleeps until we're pretty much reunited for good!

Sometimes all of this seems so hard and stressful and just like the biggest, most painful obstacle in the world. But then when I take a moment and think that it's all leading up to me getting to turn my best friend into my husband, and getting to see him every day... I don't know. It just makes me feel very grateful.

I-229f petition sent: January 11th 2013

Visa in hand: 16th October

Fly to America! Saturday 19th October! :D

Adjustment of Status:

I-485 filed: January 24th 2014

thanks for the link nich-nick ..we do need to start reading up on all that :)

loved yur story too :) so glad you are so happy! did i miss the part where you said how your fiance broke his ribs? ouch! I bruised my ribs playing soccer once and that was painful enough!

Silly accident. He was selling off things and had a bicycle he took around to the gas station to air up the tires. When he finished, he was on it barely moving and looking down checking out the tires. And he fell over. So his collarbone, shoulder and some ribs were injured.

Oh really? I'd thought you have to AOS within 6 months because of the chest x-ray? We were trying to plan things out (rush things) as we're heading back in December so we were trying to cram everything inside a month.

If you mean heading back to the UK in December, then you have a huge rush to file. You can't leave the US (and expect to get back in) until you have the advance parole (AP) travel card. That is applied for with AOS and takes 60-90 days to approve. If you file mid September, it could be mid December before you are authorized to travel internationally.

Can anyone advise me, on the electronic form DS 156 Question 17 I ticked divorced in the next question it asks for Spouses full name (even if divorced) do I fill this in with my ex husband details?

Anne

We listed the ex-spouse name.

So that sounds like your pleading re-do of the DS-2001 worked because they saw your urgency. Or maybe the email contact you also sent. Good news!

Noooo! XD No way. I'm too much of a worrier to put pressure on myself making wedding plans or other plans like that. I mean heading to the US. My fiance's return flight ticket UK to US is December, so we're not actually leaving the UK till December. We'll be married probably early Jan and then file for AOS. Only thing is, my medical was August 8th, so we were a bit concerned about having to rush the AOS filing as (as far as we knew) the medical was only valid for 6 months due to the expiration of the chest x-ray. Is it 6 or 12 months?

Also, congrats Laura Clare and good luck with your interview.

Separate issues. Visa issued for six months from medical so use the visa by approximately Feb 8,

AOS requires a medical in the US by a civil surgeon. If you have a visa medical no older than 12 months, then that is accepted instead. Those who didn't get their full AOS shot list (or waivers ticked) recorded on their Knightsbridge immunization sheet will still need to get a civil surgeon to sign off on the immunizations, even though the full exam is not required. If you did your shots before or at Knightsbridge, then everything is covered and no additional expense for a civil surgeon in the US.

Thank you to everyone who said congrats/good luck!

I've just about come down from my headless chicken panic state. I hadn't even got my documents in order since I wasn't expecting a next day interview, but I've got everything copied and printed now. Train and hotel booked for tonight too.

The interview was a result of my first email. I got a reply from 'LondonInfoUnit@state.gov' saying the usual I shouldn't have booked anything before having the visa (I haven't) but that they have scheduled me in for tomorrow, and could I reply confirming that I can make it at such short notice.

I then started desperately trying to work out if I could make it, and then 10 minutes from the email I got a call from Eric at the embassy (I guess they wanted an answer asap).

Got an email confirming my appointment which I'm to use instead of the Packet 4 letter.

Anyone know if I should take along the email confirming I've paid for home delivery? I've got the visa payment one, of course.

Sure, take any receipts or confirmations just in case. The new process is still a little vague so best to have that kind of stuff. I think that is between you and the courier so the embassy likely doesn't need it.

Interview today was approved!!!! Yes, they did ask for a print-out showing that the fee was paid. They hardly asked for any documents outside of the standard (i-134 with evidence, police certificate, birth certificate, etc.). Fiancee took a massive file folder with her, and while she is glad she had documentation of anything and everything, hardly anything was needed.

...We even applied for K2, and they didnt ask to see the letter from the father granting permission. We had to go a VERY long way to get this....
