Your appointment letter will get you on the door. And even without that, the guard outside has your name on a list. I'm not familiar enough with the new system to even be aware that is says printing the appointment confirmation is required. That sounds like maybe something for Non-immigrants who pick their own appointment??? anybody else do this step?

As far as looking up to see if you have paid? I wouldn't count on it. They are kind of a mess right now and have contracted out this web thing and may not be able to log in. That you will have to ask of the embassy. Do you mean you didn't get confirmation immediately and are supposed to go back into the system later to print a payment receipt? Maybe they needed to contract with Amazon or eBay to take payments...hahaha

I was thinking the same thing about that being for other types of visas that are making their own appt time. I wouldn't worry so much about getting in as long as he/she has something from them saying that is their appt time/date. We got our appt on Friday for a Tuesday interview and we didn't even get the email yet, just used the email to get in and all was fine.

DRG88 - We did the system the other day and we did get a message at one point saying there was a problem with the system and they would look into it...yet then he got 6 separate emails..some about the courier, some about the fee, etc. Did you get all those and print them? When he logged back in the system, he was able to print out those confirmations as well as the emails..

They can log things that quickly (they did for us), just depends how busy they are and who's doing what jobs that day, I imagine.

Wouldn't worry yet. Give it a few a couple more days. A lot of people don't hear about their interview date until ~3 weeks after all the papers & medical get back to the embassy. If you put a travel/wedding date or anything on the cover letter with the DS-2001, they generally try and have an interview date back to you in time to meet those stated plans.

Ah OK thanks, psyching myself out here. We're ok waiting for a few weeks to get an interview date as I'm flying out tomorrow to get the kids started in school, staying 3 weeks then flying back again for the interview in Sept hopefully. Gave a wedding date of 21 Sept so hoping the timing all mashes together somehow.

We've still not received our Packet 4 yet. Not sure how long it normally takes. Took 2 days between our CEAC update and Packet 3 last time, and we got the e-mail/status update for our interview on Friday. They logged our medical results yesterday. Just getting a bit twitchy about it.

He is a student living in the U.K. with Visa. He is from Morocco so I guess leave that blank and we did put his passport number...

Do we put N/A on what does not apply or leaving it blank is okay and it won't affect the populated barcode?

I also noticed the country is not UK it's listed as Great Britain for his local address in UK. for state/providence should we put UK?

26. How Long Do You Intend To Stay in The U.S.?

27. What is The Purpose of Your Trip?

28. Who Will Pay For Your Trip?

2. Do You Intend To Work in The U.S.? Yes No

(If YES, give the name and complete address of U.S. employer.)

Since we are planning on doing the Adjustment of Status for him to stay here permanently not sure what we would put here and also the working part b/c eventually he would work here in the U.S. He plans on paying for his ticket I hope that is not an issue even though we share expenses sometimes and I would help him with some of it.

Thanks

Heya I was also confused with those questions. there is an excellent "example forms" page that shows u what to put its at the top of the vj website I think 3 rows across it says "example forms". If I remember correctly I put

26) permanently

27) marriage

28) myself

Do you Intend to work in the us?

Answer: yes; with proper work authorisation

It's odd how the sense of peace comes over you. :D I was much more at ease going into the interview even after the hiccup with the medical police report thing...I felt he was super prepared (thanks to yours and other people's help) ..and they only asked him 4 questions - seems odd after all this process, it's 4 simple questions. :D

I asked him to type a review so I could post it which I just did if it will help anyone..he had a really good experience. :) The woman did comment on the quality of his photos not being great and he joked that maybe it was his face and she said "no, quite a handsome face" or something like that.. :D so if anyone had them done a photo booth like he did, just be prepared..but they still took them. :)

Tell your fiance than. you for that review it was very thorough! I'm so pleased you guys got your interview and that it went well! I think I'll.be rereading your review a couple of times before my actual interview lol. Can I ask what u.both do for a living or is that too nosy? Xx

We've still not received our Packet 4 yet. Not sure how long it normally takes. Took 2 days between our CEAC update and Packet 3 last time, and we got the e-mail/status update for our interview on Friday. They logged our medical results yesterday. Just getting a bit twitchy about it.

Stop twitching! It'll be with u soon I'm sure no twitching allowed x

Got through Newark just fine yesterday! Had an envelope full of ties to the UK, and like you all said - didn't need any of it!

Before I even handed the guy my passport he asked me why I'm visiting - I said to see my Fiance (I was worried that word might ring alarm bells) but he just said nothing after that, took my finger prints and stamped my passport! As easy as that - was very happy as I missed my 10am flight, had to wait at LHR for 6 hours for the next one...whew what a day!

I also have yet to receive my Packet 4 (queen of blades) but our status was only updated on 12th Aug, so may take a few more days.

Sigh. Another day, and still no news.

I've worked out that if I can make it into the States by the 8th September, maybe the 15th at an absolute push, we can still go ahead with the October wedding.

So I'm not giving up hope yet, but I am feeling pretty down about everything.

Is there any particular reason you need to be physically in the US by September? Is it for the wedding planning?

Mainly wedding planning, but we are also moving apartments as soon as I arrive. And then I need to give family enough time to book time off work to come over for the wedding etc etc. I don't want to move and suddenly be swamped under with things to sort out.

It wouldn't be the end of the world if I don't make it, I'll just be a bit disappointed and we'll push everything back to December if possible. But then we would probably be applying for AOS in January, and I don't know what the rules are on medical exams and the 6 month mark, and if that will have any impact.

But for now I'm trying to stay positive. It's just annoying seeing that CEAC date not changing. tongue.png

Definitely stay positive, Laura Claire! We've booked our wedding for December, and we're just planning it while we're apart. It's certainly not the traditional way to plan a wedding, but it's actually working out pretty well!

I can't see any reason that you wouldn't be over there in time for an October wedding, considering your medical was in July :-/

I planned all our wedding from the UK - it looked like I was going to arrive 2 days before the wedding, so I needed to! As it happened, I actually arrived 2 weeks before the wedding. I just used Skype to speak to people and arrange the waiver we needed for the marriage license as we were getting married in a different state to where we live. It's not ideal but it is the marriage that matters more than the wedding.

You can apply for AOS any time. No rules in the law, but sooner is always better. You only have to take a new medical exam if you don't apply within 12 months of the Knightsbridge exam date.

Here's an idea--why don't you use this time for filling out your AOS forms to take your mind off fretting. I think you have done all you can. You did confirm with DOS that your forms, medical and readiness form are received and asked if you are shown as interview ready???

Here's my AOS list of things to prepare.
