Thanks! Sounds like we don't need to sweat how the copies are done so that's good. :)

2008 = wow...a lot has changed..I just saw in your timeline that it was about this time 5 years ago to go for your interview! :)

Yes, interview was 5 years ago. We've only been to England once since immigration.

Much is the same. Most of the embassy changes are streamlining their process. The basic requirements, documents, and interview aren't much different. Some London changes:

--Instructions online instead of paper packet.

--Ds-157 for all. Not true at every embassy.

--Medical before interview will be assigned.

--Pay in advance over phone. That will be pay online by next week.

Dept of State changes:

--Finally added an online status checking tool.

Knightsbridge changes:

--Require a police certificate since the new mental health/addiction guidelines came out.

Immunization changes (worldwide)

--Dropped HPV for women

--Dropped Zoster

--Added Influenza for a wider age group.

And HIV testing is no longer done.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

Okay - my fiance is readying his packet 3 (plus cover letter/DS-2001)to mail from London when he's there for the medical tomorrow. Just want to confirm everything I read on the first page of this thread and the London site link:

Cover Letter (w/begging, LND number, wedding date, medical date and email address).

DS-2001 (1 copy)

DS-230 (1 copy)

DS-156 (2 copies)

DS-157 (2 copies)

DS-156K (1 copy,unsigned)

Even though the DS-156K says to attach evidence (police certificate, birth certificate, etc), we don't attach anything else to the forms, including photos..just what I have above, correct?

Also, even though it says DS-230 part 1, the Part 2 part of the form is combined now, correct? so we filled that out too...

TIA. :)

Quick question - on DS-230 part 1 where it says list educational institutions attended, does it mean all places including primary schools or just higher education like university/college? Also where it says "What occupation do you intend to live in the US", do I leave that blank as this is for all visa types or do I just put whatever like "customer service"?

Everything correct except the DS-230 part 2 is not a fiancé form. It's for spouses who will get the greencard and Social Security card based on this process. You will have to go through AOS to get your greencard and go apply for a SSN.

Edit: your 156k is your oath thing instead of the Part 2 for immigrant spouses.

I read it done both ways on the forum, so I hedged my bets and put *everything*, my primary, secondary, 6th form and university (luckily I didn't move when I was a kid)! I just put "primary education" in the box for qualifications for the first, "GCSEs" for the second, "A-levels" for the 3rd and my degree in the 4th, oh, and "general" in the subject field for primary/secondary. Didn't have any problems.

Doesn't matter because this is aimed at people getting work related visas. You can say customer service if that is your plan, or unknown, or brain surgeon. What you put won't affect your fiancé visa.

Thanks Nich-Nick - glad I checked with you :) Our immigration attorney didn't flag that when we sent him the completed forms to review a couple weeks ago...I realize they don't know the rules of every embassy but still lol..

Just realized too that DS-157 there is no place to sign on that...seems odd, no?

Spouse visas pay fees and send forms and documents to NVC who also assigns the interview.

K1 visas pass through in a couple of days, only getting a Dept of State case number. All fees, forms, and documents for a K1 are at the embassy.
