I am using a 1.5 inch binder that is completely full, and it has lots of pages and sheet protectors that make it weigh down but I think it will be like 2.5 to 3 pounds, I need to find someone cheap, 112 dollars is hurting me especially when i have to dish out another 215 for medical soon.

To save money, get rid of the binder and the page protectors. She can get that stuff in the Philippines far cheaper than you can send it to her.

Hey everyone, I'm having FedEx pick up my package tomorrow morning (I-134 w/proofs) to ship to Manila and my Fiancee is not from there, she will be staying with her brother and waiting for the package...I'm not shipping to his address (wouldn't be reliable), I'm wanting to ship it to a local SM mall there to an actual FEDEX location OR some other FedEx location...can anyone here recommend a reliable address to ship to? I'm waiting for her postal code of her brother's to try to get a closer location, but if anyone has had good experience with an address, I will use that IF she doesn't get back to me in time.

Thanks!

- Brett

I am a bit confused why you need to send physical documents. A high quality scan printed out on their end works just as well. I never sent anything by way of physical mail other than love letters and cards for the holidays.

Emailing most of the stuff as copies works fine, except for where the embassy requires originals or signatures, such as the I-134 in the OP's case.

I guess that's the great advantage of having to have sent the NVC everything rather than using your own funds to relay it across the world. I am always reminded just how much better it was for me to file a CR-1 rather than a K-1. :D

If I was to use any service to send paperwork to the Philippines I would use FedEx. I've always had more reliable service sending documents through them to other areas of the world as rare as that is these days.

My fiancé uses UPS to send files to me and we haven't had anything missing with anything he sends.

Yup, I'm using FedEx, they are picking it up on MON and they say it should be there THU-ph, estimated a lb package, at about 85 sheets of paper, I wanted to make it easier for her so I printed out photos, emails, few chats where we talk about our upcoming marriage, etc..) and the quote was for $107...would have been $99 for 60 sheets of paper, so I figured I would just send all of it. Overall, cheaper than I was thinking it might be, but still, would have rather sent HER that money, but I realize this IS so much more valuable in the end!

I Fedexed an envelope full of documents about 2 weeks ago and it only took 3 days from California to Pampanga. It did cost me around $60 tho.

Hi Artisan, I new to making the decision for the CR1 instead of a K1. When you say your reminded how much better it is doing the CR1 rather than the K1 don't you still need some originals such as NSO Marriage cert? Which I'm toldI may have to wait up to 3 months for? In that case my wife will have to fed ex it to me to send in.

I believe at the petition stage you only need a copy of the marriage certificate, then at the embassy visa stage you need the NSO document. So there is time for completing that.

For the I-130 I was able to supply the marriage certificate we received from the local civil registry. I never submitted an original NSO copy to the NVC. My wife did however send me an original NSO copy for my own records but the FedEx shipping FROM the Philippines to the US was less than $20. :)

  • 7 months later...

My husband sent me a laptop 2 years ago through USPS and PhilPost delivered it to my house (didn't know they did that) and only asked for php40 and they issued me a receipt. My cousin also sends small care packages for my dogs and those I pick up from the post office and I never got charged for customs. It does take forever to arrive though.

USPS is cheaper just make sure to use registered mail and insure it. Once tracking shows that the package is in the Phils., start calling PhilPost to inquire about it and don't stop calling until you get the package.
